Any change in the sports fraternity is hard! Who knows it better than Greg Norman who led the inaugural season of LIV Golf with sheer determination, and is still taking it upward and onward. Along the way, there were many hindrances and it was not easy but he pierced through. One thing he always did was to speak his thoughts out, no matter if they were controversial for some people out there.

His son is no different. Greg Norman Jr, following in the footsteps of his father, questioned a change in the American sports world, whilst his father’s league’s future appears to be in troubled waters. Let’s dive into the story.

Cricket is an admired sport in most of the world, especially in countries like India, England, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, and so on. But in America, the sport never really caught on. Although it is one of the oldest sports played in the country and dates back to the 18th century, its history has been far from being continuous.

There was a time when cricket was even more popular than baseball in the USA. Just recently, an effort was made to popularize the sport again in the US by introducing the Major League Cricket, a T20 format that has been fan-approved for a very long time. However, it seems some people in the golf fraternity are not in support of the return of cricket.

Recently, Greg Norman Jr expressed his displeasure with the re-introduced sport. He took to Twitter and wrote about how allegedly $120 million have been spent to bring back the sport. Norman Jr said that cricket might be a popular sport in other countries, and is loved by over 2.5 billion people, but he will be “shocked” to see Americans embrace it or enjoy it.

Greg Norman Jr’s displeasure with the Major League Cricket comes at a time when the future of LIV Golf, which is run by his father, is not clear. There have been a lot of speculations over the existence of LIV Golf for the coming season for a little over 2 months now.

Though there has not been any official update regarding anything in the matter, a press conference was held by LIV Golf officials in NewYork where it was addressed that the Saudi league is not going anywhere, and it is here to stay. Norman spoke there that anyone who chose to switch to LIV did it for the long term and not the short run!
