The year 2023 has been going exceptionally well for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. In fact, it has successfully completed its nine events all across the globe on divergent courses. Now, its next stop is at the Old White, Greenbrier, in the United States. Out of the four major championships, the 2023 Open Championship was the toughest call for the LIV players. On the one hand, many of them managed to easily tame the courses at the rest of the major tournaments. On the other hand, the English soil posed a challenge for even the best of professionals, which included the LIV players too. However, this doesn’t define the caliber most of the players in the league hold.
In fact, a number of them have time and again shown how dominant they can be while striking the golf ball. With that, below are the five players, per the power rankings, who outperform others:
5. Brooks Koepka: Arguably, nobody will contest Koepka‘s supremacy on the field in 2023. The second-place finish at the Augusta Masters and the subsequent victory at the PGA Championship are sufficient evidence of the same. If that weren’t enough, the 33-year-old professional is currently ranked third in LIV Golf’s player standings, which makes him a threat on American soil.
4. Sebastian Muniz: The Colombian professional is known in the LIV camp for his record at the Greenbrier. This history indicates the top 10 finishes from his previous visits. Additionally, Munoz has had three top-10 results in his prior five LIV appearances. These facts make the 30-year-old golfer a tough contender at the event.
3. Joaquin Niemann: The young professional from Chile has two PGA Tour wins to his name. Out of which one came at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier. His experience on the enigmatic greens might prove to be a challenge for other golfers.
2. Cameron Smith: Recently, Smith victoriously claimed the LIV Golf London title, which received a lot of praise from the viewers. However, the winner of the 2022 Open Championship struggled at the British Open this year. Apart from these, he has only experienced a few additional career lows. Despite this, his golfing skills put together make Cameron Smith an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on.
1. Patrick Reed: Since Patrick Reed joined LIV Golf, he has had seven top-5 finishes. These phenomenal numbers also included a runner-up at LIV Golf London in July. Also, the 4Aces GC member was among a dozen players who did not miss any cuts at the major tournaments this year.
In addition to these five players, Cameron Tringale, Henrik Stenson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Talor Gooch are other golfers who are expected to build a name for themselves at LIV Golf Greenbrier because of their experience with the course.
Prize money and the defending champion of the LIV Golf Greenbrier
Similar to all other LIV Golf events, the coming tournament from August 5–7 will also have a massive purse of $25 million. The total sum is categorized into two parts: $20 million for the individual player event and the remaining $5 million for the team event.

Among these, the winning individual will receive a total of $4 million. The winning team will bag $3 million, which will be divided equally among four players. Despite the astonishing amount of money that the golfers will receive, LIV’s events are still not eligible for OWGR points. Hence, the golf pros will not see a win here helping with their overall world ranking.
All 12 participating teams have an exceptional set of players along with rather prolific experience. It would be interesting to watch the golfers try to adjust to the conditions here for the first time. With the tournament being undertaken for the first time, there are no defending champions present. However, the recent tournament winners will surely hope to gain some momentum to tame the greens early on.
