As the LIV Golf event in Greenbrier came to a close at The Old White Golf Course, it served as a tournament that tested the spirit of many players. The hype of the event reached an all-time high as it ended on Sunday. Moreover, the event saw an amazing performance by Bryson DeChambeau which set him apart as the winner.
On the testing course at Greenbrier, he was able to pull off an extraordinary final round. However, the win that the American professional achieved hasn’t helped him on the OWGR in any way, leaving fans appalled. Let’s find out more.

The competition brought much drama and excitement to the community. While many were on the run to claim the victory, DeChambeau was able to beat all participants to take home the $4 million winner’s prize money ($25m for the event). But the catch is that while the Saudi-backed league offers an insane amount of money, it cannot provide the top players with any OWGR points.
While the 29-year-old managed to capture many hearts at the event with a stupendous final round of 58, he was unable to improve his ranking on the Official World Golf Rankings. As of now, he occupies the 109th position.
A Twitter post has gone viral as it showes the current position of the American golfer on the rankings. The tweet was uploaded with the caption, “They’re just embarrassing themselves now😂” as it took a dig at the OWGR. As LIV Golf events don’t count for the OWGR, all LIV players — DeChambeau is not the only one — suffer major setbacks on the rankings despite good shows.

Despite beginning 2022 inside the top 5, the LIV pro finds himself outside the top 100 at present. The slump, on account of his LIV connection, will continue until OWGR points are offered to the PIF-funded league. In addition to the OWGR points, LIV Golf also does not offer any points for the Ryder Cup.

Be that as it may, one can’t deny the golfer the stunning performance that he put up in the event, especially in the last round that left everyone amazed including PGA Tour golfer Jon Rahm.
DeChambeau’s spectacular feat at Greenbrier
Bryson was able to thrust himself and cement his place at the top with an electrifying performance. He went on to score a marvelous 12-under-par 58 on the third and final day as he totaled a score of 23-under 187. The score he pulled off on the final day has been recorded as his lowest score ever, lowest ever for LIV Golf too.
