The whole golf world turned upside down when some of the most celebrated former PGA Tour pros decided to say goodbye to the Tour and join the new Saudi-backed league. One of the defectors who made the choice to bid adieu to the PGA Tour was the Spaniard, Sergio Garcia. Garcia’s career on the PGA Tour was absolutely stunning with 404 events and 11 Tour wins to his name.

Apart from his PGAT victories, he also had plenty of surreal accomplishments on the Tour. Now, almost after a year of his move to LIV Golf, the 2017 Augusta Champion is reminiscing about one of his last important feats on the PGA Tour. Let’s find out more.

Sergio Garcia is reflecting back on his special PGA Tour milestone

The whole clan of LIV Golf is in Greenbrier competing for $25 million in what is the tenth tournament of the year. Garcia and other players of the Fireballs GC were asked about how many hole-in-one shots they have had, and which one was their favorite one.

According to the video posted by the team’s Instagram page, Fireballs GC’s skipper has 6 hole-in-one shots in the tournaments he has played and 7 ace shots during his practice matches. When asked about his favorite one, he said, “My last one was pretty nice which was at the matchplay in Austin against Lee Westwood in the playoff to get to the quarter final.”

The Spanish golfer made the decision to move to LIV golf in 2022 when he was offered a deal worth $40 million. There have been times when Garcia has stated that he is elated with his decision to move to the Saudi-backed league.

Garcia’s favorite Ace: A trip down the memory lane

It was the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event at Austin Country Club when Garcia and Westwood were tied in the 8th group with each having two victories and a loss. The two golfers were in a sudden-death situation against each other, and 1x major champion hit an ace on the fourth hole to get through to the next round.

After his stunning shot, the golfer spoke to reporters, “A hole-in-one is amazing. Lucky No. 13 for me. But the two putts I made on two and three, massive, to keep myself going. And then obviously the shot on four, it’s a great shot, but then you get lucky that first of all, it doesn’t hit the flag … and then it rolls back in.”

It can be said that Garcia’s motivation to hit an ace might have come from the two lengthy putts that he shot before to stay in contention. We remember Sergio Garcia’s beautiful ace as clear as day.
