American pro golfer Turk Pettit has advanced through the first section of the PGA Tour Qualification School. The former LIV golfer has reportedly now been cleared to compete in PGA Tour-sanctioned events.
The player qualified for the second stage and his clearance raised hope for his return to the PGA Tour. The 24-year-old has now finished at -10 in Montgomery, Texas, reclaiming his position on the PGA Tour after resigning from the Korn Ferry Tour in 2022. He now looks to redeem himself on the PGA Tour.
After Pettit’s stint in LIV Golf, where his best finish was a tie for sixth, he struggled on the circuit and was dropped from the 2023 season roster. The player will now move on to one of the five second-stage events which will take place in November/December in hopes of finally securing a PGA Tour card.

Many players have made loads of money this year, with even players who were relegated taking some cash home. So, in the midst of these exchanges, why would players not prefer LIV?
To begin with, LIV players are at a disadvantage in the professional realm of golf. The lack of OWGR positions has the players at the back end on the ranking charts. As the metric is important for garnering opportunities in professional golf, the absence puts LIV players at a disadvantage, with them not being able to compete in big pro golf events.
