The countdown to the Ryder Cup has begun, with its sister tournament, the Solheim Cup, already going on in southern Spain. Now, with only a week to go before all eyes move to Marco Simone, Brooks Koepka, the three-time Ryder Cup veteran for Team USA, has left some of the fans’ mouths agape.
In the last few months, Koepka has enjoyed his time in the limelight. First for winning his fifth major title in May, and then for becoming the only LIV golfer to be included in the Ryder Cup squad. But this time, the matter is nothing of that sort. In fact, it relates purely to the LIV star’s ‘look’!

A few days ago, during a press conference for LIV Golf Chicago, a journalist asked Brooks Koepka if he was working on a mullet. With a slight grin on his face, a seemingly bemused Brooks said this in response: “I do. I’ve been growing it out. I’m trying to figure out what I might do with it. My barber is coming in on Thursday. So I’ll leave it up to him.”
However, Koepka has decided to go back to his earlier look and ditch the profound conception of the mullet that fans wanted for him by shredding the golden locks he was developing. On his Instagram story, Koepka shared a clip of that famed interview, followed by a picture that surely has left millions of fans agape.
Re-sharing a story from his hairstylist, Philly Garcia, the famed barber who caters to the clean cuts of many athletes, the LIV star posted a picture of his shredded hair with a scissor emoji. Surely, the time for his golden locks is gone with Koepka back in a very formal pro-golf avatar before the prestigious Ryder Cup begins next week.

However, it was not just his fans who had developed a strong opinion about his hair. His close ones, including his wife, Jenna Sims, and brother, too, had some say on this. And surprisingly, they stood on the other side of fans’ opinions on the 5-time major winner’s long-haired look!

Koepka chooses family over fans in regards to the mullet
Earlier this month, Koepka shared a picture on his Instagram from this year’s Ryder Cup venue at Marco Simone. The mullet debate started from there, culminating in a question from an interviewer at the LIV Chicago press conference. His response reignited the debate after the presser.

In his previous Instagram post, many fans pointed out his floating golden locks. His wife, Jena Sims, left a comment, asking him to chop off the locks: “Let’s also think about cutting that hair.” It wasn’t long before his brother, Chase Koepka, himself an LIV golfer, joined in the conversation with a short and sarcastic “thank you”, backing his sister-in-law.

His hairstyle left the fans divided, with some siding with his wife and brother when they commented against his hairstyle. With the mullet gone, Koepka seems to have listened to his wife and brother’s advice about letting go of his mullet plan for the Ryder Cup. That should assuage a section of his fans.
