The LIV Golf clan was at The Old White for their thrilling event, which concluded successfully. Winning is always special, but it somehow becomes more special when it is your first. The Greenbrier event was such a first for Bryson DeChambeau. The golfer was able to score his maiden win and win a whopping $4 million, along with the respect of his fellow LIV golfers.
With his victory, he got a lot more than just the money and a trophy; many flocked to him, showering him with praise, including his LIV comrade Phil Mickelson. Although this may not have been surprising any other day of the week, it was this time because of the fiery tussle the two had witnessed just hours ago over a putt!

Phil Mickelson takes a hilarious dig at Bryson DeChambeau amid his high praise
Just some time ago, the 53-year-old was seen engaging in friendly banter with DeChambeau over a putt. The video that surfaced on the internet captured the essence of the six-time major champion’s sneaky demeanor when he asked The Scientist for a ‘gimme’ on a 3.5-foot putt, and the latter refused to let him have it. While it of course ended with Lefty making the putt, the witty interaction between the two gave the world a gist of their friendship, and the golf world wanted to see more of it. Most recently, it did.
The 29-year-old won his first individual event at Greenbrier this week. Following his epic history-making round and a ‘jump in the air’ celebration to commemorate it, Dechambeau was showered with praise and congratulations online for the win. Mickelson too joined in with the crowd and took to Twitter to appreciate his LIV colleague’s win; however, amid the praise, there was also a cheeky taunt!
Mickelson went on to acknowledge the Scientist’s “incredible” round online soon after his win. However, he couldn’t help but call out DeChambeau for stealing his epic celebration, where he jumps in the air with outstretched arms! “He stole my jump though. Not cool,” He hilariously wrote while stating how proud he was of the Crushers GC captain!
Incredible round by Bryson. 58😳 What a weekend and win for him.
He stole my jump though. Not cool. 😎
Proud of his resolve after Cameron and I gave him a thumping Wednesday. 😂😂— Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson) August 6, 2023
Dechambeau, of course, undoubtedly deserved the love. After all, he had only gotten better since the first round. With round scores of 68, 61, and 58, he flaunted his resolve to be constantly improving and earned every bit of the win and praise.
However, although Mickelson applauded his fellow golfer for his epic and great win, it’s likely that those praises will soon end. After all, the two will be facing off against each other in an epic duel!

It sure will be a great match to witness, as two of the players with exceptional skills will be coming for a one-on-one match. If DeChabeau wins in the faceoff, would Mickelson be praising him then too? Only time will tell!
