It was the Spaniard’s tee shot at the par-3, 7th at the Golf Club of Houston, in Texas. Jon Rahm was hoping for a great day without any setbacks. Things, however, rarely go as planned, as the golfer was spotted wincing after his shot. He then went ahead to WD from the event on the very next day, just a week ahead of the 2024 U.S. Open. Fast forward to the week of the major, with just a couple of days remaining, and things don’t seem to be looking too good for the pro.

A post was shared by NUCLR GOLF on their X handle while giving an update regarding his foot issue. It talked about the athlete’s WD while divulging how Rahm didn’t arrive on the grounds on Monday, nor would he reportedly be there on Tuesday, per reports.

Although the 29-year-old did finish tied for T15 with a total of 10 other professionals after the first day of play, he didn’t start his second round, owing to the unfortunate injury. The pro had carded, regardless, a par putt at the 7th hole, not to mention the five birdies and a double bogey as well during the same.

Interestingly, if Rahm is unable to tee it up for the upcoming major, he will be forced to break his streak of seven consecutive appearances at the event held by the USGA. His fans, meanwhile, were concerned, about the athlete as they took to respond to the tweet as soon as it was shared.

Netizens show concern over Jon Rahm’s condition ahead of the U.S. Open

The 2021 U.S. Open champ had earlier divulged details regarding his medical history. Jon Rahm had mentioned how he was born with a clubfoot all the while revealing how it would affect his club swing. He also mentioned how his tight foot was, “90 degrees turned inside and basically upside-down.” A fan thus couldn’t help but point out the same while issuing a jab at those mocking the Spaniard, “Hey, anti-LIV guys laughing and joking about Rahm’s injury. He was born with club feet, and probably has had a bunch of surgeries including amputating toes. 1st it’s amazing he has done so well as a golfer and second a foot injury him is probably very significant.”

Another follower was worried regarding his health as they were spotted posing a query along the same lines; “Is it with the foot that he has his congenital deformity with?” LIV Golf, on Friday, had made it public about how the Legion XIII GC skipper was dealing with a cut between two of his toes. The league, consequently, announced on the following day that the 2-time major champ’s decision to WD all the while citing an infection as the cause. Many enthusiasts of the sport came forward to express their concern for the athlete ahead of the upcoming major due to the same as they responded, “Yeah he has an infection, not good,” and “Heard he has a cut between his big toe.”

Rahm hasn’t had the best of performances in 2024 when it comes to the majors. He could only finish a sub-par T45 at the 2024 Masters where he was a defending champion while registering a score of 73-76-72-76 over the four days, totaling a 9-over-par overall 297. That’s not all. He failed to make the cut at the 2024 PGA Championship which followed a month later, while scoring a 70-72 over the two rounds. An enthusiast came forward to comment, “That sucks. Not a LIV fan and hate Rahm’s decision to go there, but want to see him in form at the majors.”

It appears a lot of fans were hoping for Rahm to replicate his performance from the 2021 U.S. Open where he emerged victorious owing to scores of 69-70-72-67 with an overall 6-under 278. Many would be surely looking forward to seeing him completely recovered on the greens while displaying his usual scintillating gameplay.
