LIV Golf formally incorporated in 2021. It saw its first event held early in June 2022. Although there has been a lot of controversy with the series, Greg Norman, the CEO of LIV Golf, believes that the league has had a successful year.
The circuit saw its final tournament end last week, bringing a close to its initial season. LIV Golf saw a total of 8 tournaments played around the globe this season. It also plans to incorporate a 14-tournament league for the season that follows. Greg was extremely impressed with what the series achieved in just a year and said, “It was one heck of a launch.”

Norman also went on to express his excitement for the coming season. He spoke about LIV Golf’s accomplishments in bringing the average age of the audience down. Before LIV, the average age was a high of 65.5 years, and in just one season, the Saudi-backed series was able to bring this down to 45 years. “That was one of our targets and our goals in our business plan — to reach down to a younger audience to show them what we can do,” he said.
The series has accomplished the feat of reducing the average age without a broadcasting network. Greg believes there are a lot of networks out there that want LIV Golf: “Quite honestly, a lot of the broadcasters looking at us are very bullish about what we’re delivering,” and is certain they will be able to sign a deal before next season. “We anticipate having a broadcast company before we start the 2022-23 season.” He also thinks that this would help them accomplish even more.

Greg Norman elaborated on the main reason they were able to bring down the average age of the viewers. He said that it was because LIV Golf has a much “lighter touch.” The two-time Open Championship winner claimed that he also listened to the views the players had and incorporated that into the game.
Norman is open to hearing out the LIV Golf players. “I listen to the guys and I’m open to their thoughts and their opinions.” He also said that if it makes the lives of the players easier and more fun, he’ll entertain their idea. LIV Golf also features entertainment besides golf, like concerts. The second day of the Chicago event featured a Jason Derulo concert. This also plays a great part in attracting a younger crowd.
