Makeovers aren’t that rare in the sport of golf. Some change their bags, while others change their attire or overall appearance. Well, it’s the latter this time around, and it was done by none other than Bryson DeChambeau, the LIV Golf pro, who had a huge crowd following him during the PGA Championship.
DeChambeau wasn’t lying when he said, “I’ve worked really hard to have people help hopefully understand who I am a little bit better.” He has been striving to keep a balance between his professional career and being a content creator for some time now, on YouTube and other similar platforms, while keeping the fans as his priority. And funnily enough, he was spotted with yet another dramatic makeover, looking just like Erik Van Rooyen with his long mustache!

While many were curious about the professional’s choice of facial hair following the PGA Tour Pro’s suit, Flushing It shared yet another tweet with a picture of the athlete and the reason behind the “switch”. The news handle mentioned how “Bryson DeChambeau was filming a new YouTube video with hickories and wearing plus fours,” all the while dubbing him the “most entertaining man in golf right now.”
Such a statement wouldn’t be off the mark if one were to look at his journey when it comes to public opinion. The golfer had been at the center of constant criticism and dislike following his LIV Golf defection. His four-and-a-half-year deal for a reported $125 million did not sit well with many, including fellow professionals. DeChambeau, however, has managed to do away with a lot of the hate while raking in cheers from the fans through his content.

This was also the case back at the 2024 PGA Championship, when he failed to win the trophy but managed to win the hearts of the spectators. Dan Rapaport had reported the same: “Crowd seems to be most behind Bryson DeChambeau. The turnaround of his public image over the last 4 years is amazing.”

The eve of the final round witnessed the golfer chip in the ball for an eagle using a 6-iron at the par-5 18th hole (Photo Finish). The result was nothing short of a humongous cheer from the crowd as he pumped his fist into the air. DeChambeau said later on after the round, “Being able to entertain the fans is what we’re all here to do, and I think that’s what’s the most important thing.” And he certainly did stay true to his words!

That’s not all. On the final day, he was walking to the 10th tee when he casually threw the golf ball in his hand to a young boy. It bounced through his hands and was snatched away by another person—a fully grown man at that. “Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!” he called out, forcing him to return and give the spheroid back to the kid. He truly seemed to embody what a fan shouted back then: “A man for the people!”
DeChambeau is now undoubtedly a crowd favorite, and with his new look, perhaps that base will only grow!
