Bryson DeChambeau’s astonishing performance at the Masters has transcended boundaries built on the grounds of hatred for LIV Golf. As the LIV Golf Pro continues to top the leaderboard at Augusta National Golf Course, Brandel Chamblee, a golf analyst with a seasoned dislike for the Saudi-backed league, has acknowledged his might in all its glory.

A rather positive Chamblee referred to the Scientist as “an intellectual earthquake that transforms itself into athletic majesty,” acknowledging his calculated, physics-driven approach. He also went into greater detail, talking about how “every single move he makes has a purpose.”

This comes shortly after Chamblee’s comments referring to Phil Mickelson as an “anomaly” in comparison to the rest of the older LIV Golf lot, thus highlighting an onslaught of a wave of positive remarks from one of Mickelson’s and LIV Golf’s most popular critic. Mickelson is an anomaly for Chamblee because he ordinarily views LIV Golf’s roster in a not-so-positive light, as it has golfers with “very few good years left in them”. In his view, “They’ve bought players who were. Some of them were in peak form, but not many.”

From his angulation to his arm positioning, the 30-year-old’s specific approach did not go unnoticed by Chamblee’s often critical eye. In his opinion, Bryson DeChambeau’s approach at the 2024 Masters “is a laser-guided missile, what you’re watching here.”

The 2020 U.S. Open Champ’s strategy was also compared to GOATs like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods’s progressively “graceful” performances from the past that have been lost by the ravages of a ‘fast-paced’ time only to be brought to life by Bryson DeChambeau in a greater than life fashion at the ANGC.

But what is one of the many calculated major decisions that the Crushers GC captain has recently made that has helped him achieve the high ranks of praise in Chamblee’s eyes?

Bryson DeChambeau’s 4-year-old concept that only recently got its wings

The 30-year-old intellectual athlete has been spotted using a new set of irons self-curated by him at the 2024 Masters. The idea of creating his own equipment struck DeChambeau in 2020 and has been in the works since. However, it went through several rounds of trials before being finalized on Tuesday, a handful of days before the Masters.

The uniqueness of these clubs rests in their “different curvature on the face than other equipment,” which helps DeChambeau straighten his mis-hits. The attention to detail demonstrated by its curator in his game is also evident in its making.

Their well-thought-out build has helped DeChambeau come to terms with his avid wind game. The star LIV Golfer currently stands at T1, as a co-leader alongside Scottie Scheffler and Max Homa, with a score of 6-under-par after Round 2, and firmly believes in giving himself a fair shot this weekend.

If Brandel Chamblee’s analysis of his calculated and slightly old-school game is to be believed, there is surely something different about him this year.
