Bryson DeChambeau's eight-figure earnings—proof of his genius or just a sellout move?

Well, it seems everything is turning out as Donald Trump predicted. The former President of the United States had, back during the making of the ‘Break 50’ video with Bryson DeChambeau, envisioned how great it was going to be. His exact words? This is going to be one of the greatest rounds of golf ever played.

And now, just a week after the iconic collaboration dropped, it appears to have achieved an insane feat on YouTube, all the while outshining even the talks against the U.S. golf team at the Olympics (remember the backlash they received for their uniforms?).

A tweet was shared by NUCLR GOLF pointing out how “Bryson DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ episode with Former President Trump has surpassed 10 million views on YouTube.” The news handle did so while posting a video of the businessman carding a birdie at the par-4 18th hole at the Trump National Course in Bedminster.

Truly impressive, one might add, for the video has now surpassed 10,016,078 views as of July 31. But that’s not the only million mark that the video had brought it. Interestingly, the collab helped Bryson DeChambeau rake in almost 128K subscribers on July 23 alone (read as ‘the day it was posted’). He currently boasts an impressive 1.27 million people who have subscribed to his YouTube channel.

Since we’re talking about numbers, it’s best to add another one as well. Being the content creator he is, the LIV Golf Pro didn’t just want to make good content. He also wanted to… wait for it… help with a fundraiser. Inspiringly enough, Trump chose to roll up his sleeves for the veterans in the community. “Wanted to make it about charity and the Wounded Warriors Foundation,” divulged the athlete in a press conference at the UK event, “I’ve done a lot for them in the past, and it was fantastic to see that he was willing to support it.”

What was the result? Together, the two lovers of golf were able to raise a figure of $220,000 from the iconic collaboration by pledging to donate an amount of $10,000 for every birdie and $20,000 for every eagle. While doing so, they carded a total of 12 birdies, not to mention 5 eagles, over the 18 holes, scoring a 22-under. And it is this success that might have given DeChambeau the confidence to make a peculiar request to the PGA Tour.

After all that has transpired with the various pieces of content that the 30-year-old has dropped, it wouldn’t be wrong to call him a content creator now, would it? Well, regardless of the answer, it seems DeChambeau sees himself as one, for he urged (hilariously at that) the PGA Tour to invite him for the upcoming ‘The Creators Classic’ that is set to take place ahead of the TOUR Championship at the East Lake Golf Club.

The unique event is a nine-hole competition among 16 content creators that is set to take place on August 28. The golfers will tee off the newly restored back-nine at the course in a strokeplay format for the first eight holes, while the top four finish off the last hole as a playoff. However, if Bryson DeChambeau finds himself in the field of 16 athletes, then it wouldn’t be too hard to predict the winner. A professional golfer with two major wins or the 15 other content creators? The lineup itself seems a bit more in the ‘Very Hard’ mode for the latter group!
