LIV Golf vs. the PGA Tour is a hot topic that never goes out of style. The debate about the two rival circuits began when the Saudi-backed Tour started poaching Tour players, and even though a framework agreement intended to bring peace has been on the horizon for months, the debate has far from died down.
Leaked documents from Jay Monahan and Keith Pelly have illuminated certain aspects of the finer details. This, in turn, has sparked a fire for many on the Saudi side. Phil Mickelson shared his outrage over the less-than-conventional direction the $3 billion merger seemed to be heading in. And now, another prominent LIV Golfer, Sergio Garcia, has opened up about the issue as well.

El Nino is one of the most popular LIV Golfers and a fan favorite in the golfing world due to his considerate yet concise demeanor. While LIV Golf is about to embark upon the Bedminster event on Friday, the Spaniard was pointedly asked about his opinion on the framework agreement amongst LIV, the PGA Tour, and the DP World Tour. The reporter raised the statement Phil Mickelson made about how LIV Golfers may not want to return to the PGA Tour, especially with the notorious clauses.
Garcia, who has openly spoken about his content at LIV Golf, replied, “I think that everyone around here is very happy and very comfortable where they are.” He professed that he isn’t speaking for everyone else, but in his personal opinion, the 43-year-old golfer does not see a future for LIV players on the PGA Tour.
He also explained that his move to the PIF circuit was to accommodate playing fewer hours. “The possibility of playing PGA TOUR comes, I doubt that I would play because I don’t want to play more.”
Moreover, the Spanish golfer expressed his desire to spend time with his family and still return to the circuit periodically to play high-quality games. Garcia also spoke about his wish to stay with LIV Golf when the PIF’s tour was signing a long-term deal in his homeland.

A couple of months ago, the Saudi-backed circuit signed a lucrative deal in Andalucia that states that there will be a lot more events in Spain, particularly around the courses that Garcia frequents when he’s back home.

That was when Garcia praised the team-building format of LIV Golf, which truly impressed him. He also shared his personal opinion about how he has good camaraderie with his colleagues on the Saudi circuit. He also expressed his desire not to return to the PGA Tour, even back then, because he doesn’t want to play more than he already does.
His sentiments towards the American circuit vs. his current employers haven’t changed much, and Sergio Garcia seems certain that he will want to remain on the LIV Golf courses for the foreseeable future.
