First victories are always very special for athletes, and when those victories are earned by performing exceptionally well, a celebratory action is indeed required. Recently, Bryson DeChambeau won his first-ever individual title in LIV Golf, and his joy was more evident than ever. It was so evident that his celebrations reminded the golf world of Phil Mickelson’s iconic joyful jumps that he does after winning tournaments.

After DeChambeau’s jump, a comparison between the two golfers’ cheerful moments was supposed to be there! And there was a comparison. Even Lefty himself had a reaction to the comparison between his and the one-time major winner’s celebratory jump.

After the 2020 US Open winner shot his last putt on the par-3 18th at Greenbrier and realized that he had finally gotten his maiden victory in the Saudi League, he could not help but raise his hands in the air and jump high with joy. It was a splendid victory; after all, DeChambeau had scored his career’s lowest score of 58, and astonishingly, with a bogey in the mix!

Post-event, he described the winning moment as probably one of the greatest moments of his career, and he could not think of a better way to celebrate than to jump in the air. The golfer won a whopping $4 million in purse money for his victory. As the 29-year-old jumped in the air, fans and media houses started to draw comparisons between his jump and Mickelson’s iconic victory jump.

One Twitter page, PGA/LIV Hot Takes, posted a picture of the two golfers jumping side by side. The account looking at the jumps pointed out that Phil Mickelson needs to increase his vertical”. In the pictures alongside, one can see that DeChambeau’s winning jump was higher than Lefty’s. Under the post, Lefty hilariously commented that The Scientist might have one-upped him with his jump by just a little. “He may have me by a little bit,” he wrote.

Although the veteran golfer thinks that he has been one-upped by his fellow LIV golfer, that did not stop him from becoming a part of his victory. The golfer congratulated his fellow player for his stellar win.
