The golf world is on edge as the Ryder Cup is fast approaching. Tensions and excitement are high as the teams prepare to duke it out on the golf course at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. With the next big event set to start on September 29, questions about who will make the teams are flying around, with some players hoping to participate in the tournament, especially Patrick Reed.
Reed was not able to place near the top of the leaderboard at the Open Championship that ended recently. This has only added to the hate he receives online. Moreover, just recently, he was even publicly called out by Paige Spiranac‘s rival, who took a jab at him for being one of the most hated golfers. However, amid all that hate, a recently uploaded video of the LIV star has left the golf world with a lot of admiration towards him, as they were reminded of the stellar performance that the American golfer had put up against Rory McIlroy!

Back in 2016, Team USA managed to win the Ryder Cup at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota. After suffering three straight losses, the United States were able to defeat Europe with a final score of 17-11. And the American professional golfer, Patrick Reed, had a big hand in the team’s victory.
Cementing his place in the annals of history, he went head-to-head against McIlroy in the Sunday opening round of the prestigious international tournament. He went ahead to set up a decisive 1-up lead over Europe by scoring five birdies and an eagle to script the win for his team.
I will never forget Patrick Reed’s incredible Ryder Cup performance against Rory McIlroy in 2016.

Currently at the 44th spot on the US Ryder Cup points list, he will need to make himself a part of the Captain’s pick if he hopes to take part in the International event this year in Rome.
The LIV golfer was unable to play in any Tour events since he jumped over to the Saudi-backed league. His popularity also took a hit after his switch, and even the likes of Karin Hart, often touted as Spiranac’s rival and lookalike, have gone on to call him out for being the least favorite golfer. However, this post has revived Reed’s love among the fans. At least for now!
Reed’s Ryder Cup spirit evokes much reaction
The video uploaded on Twitter reminded the golf world of the stellar performances both players put up on the historic day. The lead from Reed that helped the USA get off to a good start and led to their win invoked many reactions from the golf community. Some were awestruck by his shot, while others were nostalgic for this significant point in Ryder Cup history. Let us take a look at some of the reactions:

Some fans tried to call out people who only complimented Patrick Reed and not the Irishman.
So Rory makes a 50footer and Reed a 20 footer but you don’t respect Rory’s putt?? 🤔

Some fans became nostalgic for the historic day.
This was such a great day. I remember the crisp fall vibes and players weren’t wearing hats for some reason. It was wild.

One fan hilariously pointed out that 2016 was one of Reed’s best years.
One of the times in his career that no one called him out
