$3 billion is a lot of money. It can literally change the course of an organization, taking it to revolutionary heights. When the PGA Tour and DP World Tour agreed to the $3 billion merger with LIV Golf, no doubt they had an equally honorable outcome in mind. Yet all it did was create more controversy. The reason for the reaction from most PGA Tour players is due to the hypocrisy and the deal being done quickly and quietly. Tiger Woods, who has been vocal about LIV Golf and his urge to preserve the PGA Tour legacy, was particularly betrayed by the manner in which the decision was carried out.

Add the leaked document of his alleged speech from 2022, and we’ve got a lot of downers for the once-epic golfer. And now, there’s another.

With over roughly 26 years on the pro golfing circuit, Tiger Woods has carved a niche for himself in the pages of history. His performance and dedication to the sport even earned him the highest award given to a civilian; the Presidential Medal of Freedom by the then US President, Donald Trump himself.

Woods had the kind of potential that people noticed from an early age. It is no surprise, therefore, that while most pro golfers have a couple of aces to their name, and seem excited, Woods brags 20. However, most of them were on Par 3, which seems to have become a tradition for many golfers.

But making a hole-in-one on par 4 is so rare that when it actually happens, people aren’t prepared to capture it. Such was the case when 18-year-old Aldrich Potgieter, made an ace shot that even Woods hasn’t accomplished. In light of the recent merger, and the leaked documents of a speech he never gave, seems like the golf legend cannot catch a break

During the John Deere Classic 2023 qualifier in Illinois, the South African golfer who recently turned pro, missed the cut by a single shot. However, the newly turned pro with the reputation of being the second-youngest British Amateur Champion, delivered an Ace that would have left viewers astounded was it recorded for posterity.

It wasn’t expected, by the golfer or the organization. So, when Potgierter teed off on Par 4, he was taken aback by his caddie running around with joy. The PGA Tour shared this historic moment with fans, even if it wasn’t the extraordinary shot itself. Golf Digest also reported the event with valor. The golf world can’t help but be proud of the 18-year-old prodigy.

A 345-yard blind tee shot that ultimately landed in the hole; the South African golfer called it “a quiet moment to yourself where you’re like, ‘I still can’t believe that happened.’” Undoubtedly, this is not a shot that is easily made, no matter the golfer’s experience in the sport. Even the legendary Tiger Woods who holds several records, never managed to make a hole-in-one on par 4!

Tiger Woods inadvertently receives shade

Recently, just after turning pro, Aldrich Potgieter made a distance shot that surpassed the legacy left behind by Bryson DeChambeau on the PGA Tour before he defected to LIV Golf. It seems that the young Pro golfer cannot help but make excellent shots that throw shade on those who came before him. He is just too good on the greens.

Despite missing the cut, Aldrich accomplished something on Monday that very few, in fact, only one golfer has done on the PGA Tour; Andrew Magee back in 2001. Tiger Woods with a whopping 20 holes in one, didn’t manage the 345-yard shot. Maybe if he returns, he could still break the record, hopefully on Par 5 to make it more interesting.
