LIV Golf has returned to Adelaide for the most successful event on the calendar. Back in 2023, it had reaped tremendous support from fans in Australia, as more than 77,000 people attended the contest over the four days. Well now, history seems to be set to repeat itself, if not cooking up something better, as the tournament witnessed a 150% increase in ticket sales as opposed to the previous year at The Grange Golf Club.
The sixth event on the 2024 calendar of the breakaway league will, as usual, witness a total of 54 players tee it off for a cut of the $20 million indivisual prize purse in Adelaide. However, only one will win the trophy, and the community will be on their toes to find out who it will be!

The PIF-funded circuit is undoubtedly looking to start off their post-Masters schedule with a bang as they wait to kick off the event on April 26. As usual, 13 teams, made up of 52 golfers, along with the two wildcards, will take the field. And while all 54 of them will look to be crowned the champion on Sunday, April 28, those that have the best shot to do so are as follows:
1. Talor Gooch: With a score of 19-under par, the 2023 season-ending individual champion was able to clinch his first win on LIV Golf last year at Adelaide. Following the triumph, he went ahead to clinch two more victories in the breakaway league in Singapore and Andalucia. Come 2024, the 32-year-old is yet to open his winning books but has finished inside the top 10 a total of three times in his five starts, including a personal best of T2 at the Las Vegas tournament with an 11-under overall. Regardless of him being on a different team this year (Smash GC), it certainly would be unwise to underestimate him on the greens!
2. Joaquin Niemann: Possibly the most successful LIV golfer this season. Naturally so, since the 25-year-old was able to emerge victorious a total of two times at Mayakoba and Jeddah while finishing inside the top 10 a total of two times in the other three events. Moreover, the Torque GC skipper was also able to place at T4 and T3, respectively, in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and the International Series Oman, allowing him to receive invitations for the PGA Championship and the Masters, the latter of which he finished T22. If the young golfer keeps up his momentum, he will be able to rake in yet another victory at LIV Golf Adelaide.

3. Jon Rahm: From the moment he joined the Saudi-backed league, the Spaniard has been ever so consistent in his gameplay. And despite having dropped a rank on the OWGR’s chart (from 3rd to 4th), his performances in LIV events have left no doubt that he is worthy of being dubbed one of the best in the sport. Fascinatingly, Rahm has led his team a total of two times to win the team event, at Mayakoba and Miami, while individually placing inside the top 10 in every tournament that was hosted by the PIF-funded circuit this year. As a result, he is undoubtedly a top contender to win the upcoming contest.
4. Bryson DeChambeau: Much like his Spanish LIV Golf colleague, the Crushers GC skipper has led his team to victory a total of two times on the circuit, at Jeddah and Hong Kong. To top it off, DeChambeau was able to place four times inside the top 10 in the five starts he made this season in the Greg Norman-led league, the best of which came in Jeddah at T4. Even at the recent Masters in Augusta, he held the top spot for the first two days before finishing T6. He will now undoubtedly be looking to increase his tally of wins at LIV Golf Adelaide.

5. Dustin Johnson: The 4Aces GC captain, along with his squad, won the team event back in the 2023 edition of the tournament with an overall score of 47-under. Also, he led them to a triumphant finish at the contest in London. Now, in the third season of LIV Golf, he has placed twice inside the top 10, including a win at the tournament that took place in Las Vegas. Therefore, he will, without a doubt, look to increase his win tally at Adelaide!

The 6,840-yard course was officially established in 1926 on land that was once a swamp and was designed by Cargie Rymill. However, down the line, The Grange Golf Club‘s west course was redesigned by Mike Clayton, while the East Course underwent redevelopment under the watchful eyes of LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman.
Interestingly, the ground is also home to the famous par-3 12th, also known as the Watering Hole, which will provide the spectators and the players alike with an exciting experience. It is the equivalent of the WM Phoenix Open’s 16th hole, a.k.a. the ‘Party Hole’ at TPC Scottsdale, and will have fans just inches away from the greens with the pros!
