When it was launched, LIV Golf was promoted to be the future of golf. The shotgun starts, and fast-paced action was supposed to excite the fans and keep them hooked. The inclusion of music and a vibrant atmosphere was expected to make golf less boring. Additionally, the integration of technology was bound to intrigue the fans further. But all that has failed to deliver as per expectations, as not many in the community have adapted to the Saudi-based league.

There is still a majority of fans who prefer classic golf. Being a gentleman’s sport, golf attracted the kind of fans who found excellent strokeplay more exciting than the quick drives offered by LIV Golf. And that’s why the PGA Tour’s ratings weren’t affected much even when some of the fans shifted to the alternative. But LIV Golf has continued to experiment in an attempt to attract more viewers. Unfortunately, their latest efforts failed to impress the community.

Flushing It just tweeted a clip from the broadcast of LIV Golf Singapore 2025. The video includes one of the greens with a topographical wave grid above it that shows the breaks and variations of the surface. On paper, the idea is excellent as it gives the fans an idea about how challenging the hole is. Unfortunately, the grid was so clustered that fans couldn’t judge the breaks. It was just the question of too many details in one frame.

Disappointed by the confusing visuals, fans were quite critical of LIV Golf’s latest attempt to integrate technology. Let’s see what they had to say about it.

Fans thrash LIV Golf for the latest broadcast feature

The confusing illustration of the break frustrated a lot of fans. Many of them questioned the LIV Golf officials about what they were trying to show. One of the fans commented, “I don’t understand why the lines are moving and morphing together.” It seems that the unusual movement of the waves was difficult to grasp for them. The PGA Tour’s illustration that shows arrows moving in the direction of the break seems to be far simpler.

What’s your perspective on:

Is LIV Golf's flashy tech ruining the sport, or is it just what golf needs to evolve?

Have an interesting take?

Then there were others who were not that big fans of LIV Golf. Someone mentioned, “More distractions to keep the brainwashed following the false idol charlatan actors perform in predetermined scripted golf events. Only a matter of time before the class action lawsuits begin against these turncoat sellouts. #TickTock.” It seems that they are not on board with LIV Golf’s attempt to reinvent golf as a whole. They also seem a bit bitter about stars like Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau selling out to play “scripted golf events” in the Saudi-based league, apparently. Interestingly, rumors suggest that it was Tiger Woods who called LIV Golf “scripted golf” as it is focused on entertainment than genuine sports.

Another stated, “All the bells and whistles can’t change the fact that LIV is a s–tty product that nobody watches.” Again, this is a criticism of LIV Golf as a concept. But the fan might have a point here. If you look back at the LIV Golf’s first event of the year, where Adrian Meronk took the title in Riyadh, the league debuted on FOX Sports and the numbers that came out were shocking. When Nielsen released the initial ratings for the broadcast, it revealed that only 12,000 people had tuned in the first round. Now, that’s not a good look for any tournament.

One of the fans was also dissatisfied with the choice of course for the recent LIV Golf events. Speaking about LIV Golf Singapore 2025, he said, “It’s just that the courses they play are generally abysmal. HK over Bay Hill? Singapore over sawgrass? Lmao.” Both, Bay Hill Golf Club and TPC Sawgrass have been a part of the history books of the sport for decades. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that the fan doesn’t want to watch LIV Golf Singapore 2025 over THE PLAYERS Championship at Sawgrass.

Then there was someone who was shocked to learn that LIV Golf is still talked about. They commented, “Is LIV still going? Does anyone watch?” Judging by the low TV ratings LIV Golf’s 2025 season opener received, the surprise is justified. However, the CEO, Scott O’Neil, still seems to believe that LIV Golf Riyadh 2025 was a big success. Maybe this comment might open his eyes.
