After being away for over a month due to medical reasons, Jay Monahan finally returned as the PGA Tour commissioner this week. Monahan also brought along an explosive new memo that throws further light on the future of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf in the face of the $3,000,000,000 merger.
The memo, which indicates preferential treatment for PGAT loyalists as well as what the reinstitution of LIV players is going to look like, has now become the subject of great speculation. On Saturday, even LIV pro and 6-time major winner Phil Mickelson couldn’t help but weigh in on the matter. Let’s dive in to find out more!

Last month, the PGA Tour sent ripples through the golf world by agreeing to partner up with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which bankrolls the LIV league. Since then, fans and players alike have been starving for more information regarding the controversial new deal. While the memo that Jay Monahan sent to players on his return did quench several fans’ queries, it also left a lot of confusion and indignation in its wake.
Recently, one Twitter user alleged that LIV players will be “sanctioned differently based on subjective and schoolboy standards.” This means the route back for the likes of Phil Mickelson and Pat Perez, who defected from the PGA Tour more publicly and loudly, will be harsher than their fellow LIV compatriots.
😂What a colossal waste of time. Not a single player on LIV wants to play PGA Tour. It would require a public apology and restitution to LIV playersfor paying millions to Clout media to disparage all of us.A better topic is future sanctions for the many players who now come to LIV

But when these claims came to light, Mickelson couldn’t help but absolutely downplay them. “What a colossal waste of time. Not a single player on LIV wants to play PGA Tour,” the 53-year-old wrote in a tweet. “It would require a public apology and restitution to LIV playersfor paying millions to Clout media to disparage all of us.”
Lefty has been in the thick of the LIV Golf scandal from the very beginning, with his move to the breakaway league last year drawing flak from both his fans and detractors. Last month, however, he had pleasantly welcomed the PGAT-LIV union.

The PGA Tour is looking for ways to reintegrate golfers who defected to LIV
PGA Tour chief Jay Monahan returned to work with a bang, outlining the huge changes that are set to occur in the golf world down the road. Per his new memo, a “player benefit program” is now in motion. This particular scheme aims to compensate golfers who stayed loyal to the Tour despite being offered jaw-dropping multimillion-dollar deals from LIV.
The memo also shed light on a player discipline task force. Its role is to evaluate “potential pathways back to the PGA Tour for LIV players” who wish to rejoin in the future.
