The arrival of LIV Golf has divided the golfers among each other. While in the past, they frequently met each other during the PGA Tour events, they now meet only during the Majors. One such encounter will occur in the next month’s Masters. Though many fans are expecting a heated exchange among the golfers from both Tours, there is still plenty of friendship left according to the former world number-two, Cameron Smith.

The Australian golfer jumped to LIV Golf after winning last season’s Open Championship in St. Andrews. Though Smith’s $100 million move to the Saudi-funded Tour was heavily scrutinized, he looks to carry on with his new phase in the lucrative Tour. However, as he heads back to Augusta National in the coming weeks, the golfer shares his views on the PGA Tour players at the Howie Games Podcast.

It has been a phenomenon about players from both Tours hating each other. Rory McIlroy has been one of the most vocal PGA Tour stars to denounce the LIV Golf defectors. However, that may not be the case with the rest of the golfers.

During his recent outing at the fellow Australian’s podcast, Smith revealed he is still friends with his former colleagues. “All the guys that I was mates with are still my mates”, said the former world number two. He also added how no PGA Tour player has told him to not talk to him anymore.

I’m a pretty easy person to talk to”, claimed Cam Smith before adding he makes everyone comfortable even ‘if anyone ever wanted to confront’ him. He ended by stating the controversial move was the most suitable for his career. “It’s just a move I felt was right for my career”, said the Aussie.

Just days after his move to LIV Golf, Cam Smith was crowned with the 2022 PGA of America Player of the Season Award. While his PGA Tour career looked on the horizon, the defending Open Championship winner jumped to the Saudi-funded Tour for a new challenge. Nonetheless, he will see some of the familiar faces in the Masters next month, and hopefully have a peaceful time with them.
