While the relationship between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf stars gets sourer, one LIV defector is ready to beg the Commissioner of the American Tour to compete in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. While he may be suspended to compete for his former Tour, which event is Bubba Watson so eager to be a part of?

After turning pro in 2002, Watson has had an impressive career in the sport. The Florida-based golfer has 12 PGA Tour wins, among which also include his two Masters victories. However, despite earning so much in the sport, the LIV defector recently revealed his wish to compete in a PGA Tour event, for which he is even ready to beg Jay Monohan.

Watson will make his return to competitive return in this week’s Saudi International event where many LIV Golf stars are competing. The golfer hasn’t competed professionally since the 2022 PGA Championship, as a torn meniscus forced him out for the rest of the season last year. Nonetheless, ahead of his return to Jeddah, the 44-year-old answered some questions in the press conference.

While answering several golf-related questions, Bubba Watson then revealed an event close to his son’s heart. “My son, like I said, he doesn’t play golf, but now his whole goal was to play in the PNC, which is the parent-junior, and now I’m not allowed to play in it,” he said. LIV defectors are suspended from competing in any PGA Tour events.

However, Watson expects to get an exemption to compete at the PNC Championship with his 10-year-old son. The golfer is even willing to beg the PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan. He said, “If Jay Monahan is watching this, I’ll see you at Augusta and I’ll try to beg you to let us play the PNC again”. The two-time Masters winner has competed at the Father-son challenge twice, once with his father and the other time with his father-in-law.

However, now that the junior Watson is old enough to give others a tough time in golf next to his father, the golfer wishes to compete in the tournament. But his move to LIV Golf has dwindled the chances of competing at the PNC Championship which even his son is aware of. “My son was kind of disappointed that he knows we’re not going to play in that”, he added.

Winning or losing at the PNC Championship will bring no change in the OWGR points system. The main objective of the event is to enjoy two days of competitive golf next to your loved ones. Though Bubba Watson may be a part of LIV Golf, his wish of participating in the father-son challenge can still be considered. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
