The LIV Golf Series promised a marquee signing in its off-season. While there were many new recruits on the roster, none failed to hype the golf community. However, few of those names stand out, including that of Thomas Pieters. The Belgian golfer has racked up appearances in both the DP Tour and the PGA Tour, but had switched to the LIV Golf Series earlier this season. What has changed since his move to the rebel league?

Thomas Pieters talks about life post-LIV Golf switch

“How much has his life changed since LIV golf?” he was asked, to which Pieters replied, “Not really.” He then proceeded to explain how his life was still functioning smoothly.

“I still get on a plane, go to a golf tournament and try and compete and win. on that end? Not much. I mean, obviously, there’s a lot of talk. But at the end of the day is it’s personal opinion. And it’s just golf. You know, it’s not life and death. So I made the decision and I move on,” he said.

Is Pieters worried about his legacy on the PGA Tour?

The Belgian golfer played on the PGA Tour for a year, which he described as a “lonely” period for him. “I played a year on the PGA Tour. I did not like it. I got very homesick, very lonely…” he said.

But despite his talent, Pieters wasn’t able to secure any titles on the American tour. Did his move to LIV Golf worry the golfer of impending criticism from fans around the world?

As is in his character, the Belgian rarely loses his cool. “I’ve done 10 years of being on the road and trying to achieve my dreams. I’m not Rory McIlroy, I’m not Tiger Woods, I’m not going to be in the history books or have a massive legacy, and that’s OK,” he calmly said.
