Ever since turning pro in 2012, Lexi Thompson has always received a lot of love and support. And now at 29 years of age, the American pro is approaching the last phase of her career as a full-time pro.
Thompson announced that she will retire as a golfer after the Solheim Cup 2024. There are several reasons behind her decision. One of them being her love-hate relationship with golf and the media. The 2024 season is about to end this weekend at the CME Group Tour Championship 2024. Fans are aware that Thompson’s visit to the Tiburon Golf Club may be her last outing as a professional golfer. However, during her press conference before the event, Lexi Thompson had something exciting to share about her plans.

Considering her plans to retire this week, one of the reporters asked Lexi Thompson, “What are some of the emotions you’re feeling this week?” Thompson replied, “Yeah, probably be a little bit of Annie notion until week. Like I said before when I made the announcement it’s just from full-time golf,” with ‘full-time golf’ being the keyword here. To the joy of her fans, she further added, “I may tee it up a few times next year. A matter of when and what tournaments I don’t know. I am just going to take time for myself and take it day by day.” Yes, Lexi Thompson confirmed that she will play a few events next season.

Speaking about her participation the the season-ending event, Thompson said, “I am just going to embrace the week. This is one of my favorite events. I get so many people out here that support me and love me. I’m just going to enjoy it every step of the way.” She is excited about the event as she also mentioned, “Looks like we are going to get some great weather, so that’s a plus. Just going to enjoy the experience.”

Lexi Thompson’s possible schedule for 2025
Lexi Thompson has time and again expressed her love for playing at the Solheim Cup. She has also made great connections with her fellow Team U.S. pros during the tournament. So it won’t come as a surprise if we see Lexi Thompson be a part of Team U.S. in the next version of the Solheim Cup in 2026. The CME Group Tour Championship also holds a special place in her heart.
