The first two days of the 2025 LECOM Suncoast Classic have seen some terrific action! The Korn Ferry Tour’s second event in April has already completed two rounds, and the field has been cut. After the first 36, Michael Johnson and Jorge Fernández Valdés have secured the top spot with 12-under par 130 each. Valdés had an outstanding first round that saw him score 10-under par 61. Johnson kept pace with the Argentinian with two very consistent rounds of golf.

At the end of the day, either of them could win the tournament. What is certain is that the second half of the tournament will only be more exciting than it already is as the KFT pros head for a title win and a paycheck. Having said that, how much money will either of them lose if they don’t finish first? Let’s look at the purse breakdown for the LECOM Suncoast Classic 2025.

LECOM Suncoast Classic 2025: Paychecks up for grabs

The 2025 LECOM Suncoast Classic has been cut down to 68 golfers. Up-and-coming talent, Blades Brown, has qualified to play on the weekend. Shockingly, the next Phil Mickelson and Charlie Woods‘ rival, Miles Russell, has missed the cut by just one stroke. Ironically, Mickelson also didn’t make the cut a few days ago at Augusta National. Nonetheless, Brown is eligible for a paycheck at Lakewood National Golf Club, and so are the 67 others playing the last two rounds. And they all will be fighting for a $1 million purse.

The winner of the tournament is set to receive $180,000, which is the standard 18% payout for the winner of a tournament as per the Korn Ferry Tour’s prize money distribution chart. The top 3 on the leaderboard are all set to receive $60,000 or more. Despite finishing last over the weekend, golfers will still get a $4000 paycheck for playing all four rounds. Let’s take a look at the complete prize money breakdown chart for the 2025 LECOM Suncoast Classic, according to GNN.

Valdés and Johnson’s biggest challengers

Yes, Michael Johnson and Jorge Fernández Valdés are leading the board. However, they are not the only ones yearning for the title. Only one stroke away, Mark Goetz has also proven to be a threat to their possible wins. Interestingly, the T4 position is packed with five more challenges that can all rise to the occasion over the last two rounds.

Will Michael Johnson or Jorge Fernández Valdés seize the title, or will an underdog steal the show?

Have an interesting take?

Robby Shelton, Chase Sienkiewicz, and Austin Hitt can all cover the distance to capture the 2025 LECOM Suncoast Classic title. If Tanner Gore replicates the success from his first round of 9-under 62, then he can win the title. Lastly, Neal Shipley has gained some experience playing on the PGA Tour recently at the Valspar Championship. He can use his experience of playing with the top golfers in the world and turn things around at the Lakewood National Golf Club.
