Phil Mickelson is famous for his aggressive style of play and magnetic personality. He is known for his fearless approach to the game, often taking risks that other golfers wouldn’t dare to attempt. Despite his success on the course, Mickelson has faced his fair share of challenges. From health issues to financial troubles, he has weathered many storms over the years.
His ‘Phil the Thrill’ nickname is well-deserved, as he has produced some of the most exciting moments in golfing history. Moreover, with Masters approaching, let’s revisit Phil’s famous celebratory moment after his first Masters win.

The iconic Masters moment of Phil Mickelson
Lefty took to Twitter to take a poll on if his Masters jump was higher or the jump he took after hitting a bump while skiing. He tweeted, “Which jump was higher? Winning the Masters or hitting a bump on the slopes? Why is it always so much higher in my head? 🤔#AIRPHIL #HyFlyers #LFG Let’s Flyin’ Go! @HYFlyers_GC”
Mickelson’s triumphant jump after sinking an 18-foot birdie putt to beat Ernie Els by a stroke in the 2004 Masters is etched in the history of golf. Moreover, you can just imagine the scene: Mickelson’s legs splayed a bit, his arms raised overhead with his right hand clutching his putter – it’s a moment you won’t soon forget.
Moreover, this win marked Mickelson’s first major title, and he finished the tournament with a closing round of 69, including birdies on five of his final seven holes. The final birdie, which secured his victory, came on the 72nd hole. The joy and elation overflowed as Mickelson celebrated by jumping three feet in the air.
However, the golf world has mixed sentiments about this poll. Some fans have expressed their opinions on the jump and their love for the 52-year-old. But others are still upset with him over his jump to LIV Golf.

Your jump should be called an “X-jump “. You look like letter “x”, and maybe you were trying to impersonate a flying squirrel. Go! @HYFlyers_GC
