Remember the 2024 Wyndham Championship? Or you can even peek back at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am! The reason? Well, these are but a couple of the PGA Tour events that were hit hard by one of the oldest villains in the book—none other than unfavorable weather. And it is this experience that has led the Jay Monahan-led circuit to take whatever is necessary to save a PGA Tour Champions event: the Constellation Furyk & Friends, wherein the prize money is a whopping $2.1 million.
The ongoing senior professional golfers’ event shared an announcement regarding the final round that will tee off on October 6, Sunday. “Due to inclement weather tomorrow,” wrote the official X handle of PGA Tour Champions, “Tee times have been moved up to 7:45 a.m. – 9:51 a.m.” Seems like every one of the athletes will have to wake up a little bit early to win the title and the trophy!

The initial timings for kicking off the third and final round of the 2024 Constellation Furyk & Friends were set at 9:20 a.m. But an unexpected, albeit unsurprising villain (read as unfavorable weather conditions) decided to pose a danger to every golfer at the PGA Tour Champions event. As a result, the circuit decided to take precautionary measures so as not to let it have a similar ending as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am that saw a whole day’s delay!

The first two groups, consisting of Brian Gay, David Frost, and Billy Andrade at the 1st tee, along with Charlie Wi, Jeff Maggert, and Ken Duke at the 10th tee, will kick off their rounds at 7:45 a.m. As for the final two groups, one of which comprises the leaders of the tournament, they will tie off at 9:51 a.m. This gives the group with leaders Rocco Mediate, Bob Estes, and Vijay Singh to finish the third round by around 2-3 p.m.
It appears to be a sensible choice that has been taken by the organizers and the PGA Tour in response to the weather forecast. Unfortunately, the predictions have even put out a Coastal Flood Advisory Alert from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Quite a dangerous situation that the Timuquana Country Club has found itself in!

As per the reports shared by Accuweather, the day will witness a cloudy and humid atmosphere. However, skipping to the afternoon, the country club will witness a heavy thunderstorm. So keep yourself safe and scarce when the time comes. The temperature, on the other hand, will reach as high as 78.8F in the mornings.
Wind-wise, the report predicts it to flow northeast with a speed of 15 km/hr. Despite that, there remains an 80% chance of precipitation with 9.5mm of rain expected to fall on Sunday, not to mention the 48% probability of thunderstorms. Anyhow, will Rocco Mediate, Bob Estes, or even Vijay Singh at T3, for that matter, be able to churn out a favorable top finish before the weather takes up its true form, that of a villain? The fans can only wait and watch!
