Charlie Woods has inherited Tiger Woods’s name. But it will take him time and hard work to make a place for himself in the golf community. Tiger Woods became the youngest US Junior Amateur Champion while he was a student at the age of 15. He managed to make a record, which remained unbroken till 2010. Charlie Woods’s first attempt to do the same remained unfulfilled.

This also made him face harsh realities. He failed to qualify in the field of 264 players due to the terrible two rounds he carded. On the first day at the Oakland Hills Country Club, he began his first three holes with an even par but ended up carding a double bogey on the fourth, followed by a birdie on the fifth. However, that did not help. Charlie Woods carded five double bogeys and four bogeys in the entire round, with just two birdies. This brought his score to a disappointing 12-over.

His focus was only on winning. not how he played. Thus when asked what his biggest learning experience was this year, Charlie Woods simply replied, “US Junior,” at the presser of the PNC Championship. While the second round was a little better, it was not up to the mark. He carded four bogeys and three double bogeys, trying to compensate with just one birdie. His score was a 10-over 80, which did not let him qualify.

Taking to this, he added, “It’s, again, about focusing on my playing. I was so focused on winning and how I played that it kind of crept into how I I going to win instead of how I’m going to play the shot, and it kind of built up, and that caused two very, very bad rounds of golf. But live and learn.” Adding to this, his father gave him a rather important life lesson, “Learn,” said the GOAT.

Woods’s ex-wife Elin Nordegren was also there. The 15X major winner was so proud that he hugged Charlie Woods and took a picture, showing off the ring that he got.
