The demise of Herbert Kohler Jr. has resulted in many people mourning the loss of the executive chairman of Kohler. The Billionaire businessman passed away at the age of 83.  Though he and his family have earned billions through their plumbing fixed manufacturing business, Kohler also has been an influential name in the sport of golf. Following the loss, the PGA Tour as well as the PGA of America paid tribute to the golf visionary.

Being a Wisconsin resident, Herbert Kohler owned two golf resorts in the State, Whistling Straits, and Blackwolf Run. Both courses have been recognized among the best golf courses in the country since 2000. The Kohler courses have hosted six Major golf championships to date, including one of the most exciting PGA Championships on record at Whistling Straits in 2015.

Moreover, the businessman also owns an Old Course Hotel in St. Andrews, next to the birthplace of golf, the legendary Old Course. Herbert also scored his only hole-in-one at the 11th hole of the Old Course at St. Andrews in 2007. With such influence in the sport, it was quite apparent that golf governing bodies like the PGA Tour and PGA of America would pay their respects to the late Billionaire.

PGA Tour and PGA of America remember the life of Herbert Kohler Jr.

After the news of the executive chairman’s demise was made public, the world conveyed its grief. Among the many, was golf loyalty which included Jim Richerson, the president of the PGA of America. He released a statement remembering the contribution of the late Herbert Kohler to golf.

In the statement, Richerson said, “The PGA of America is deeply saddened by the passing of Herb Kohler, whose impact upon golf extends well beyond his world-class properties that hosted major championships and the 43rd Ryder Cup”. He further mentioned the passion Kohler had for the future of golf and how keen he was to maintain the high standards of the sport.

Along with the PGA of America, the PGA Tour also expressed its sorrow, after hearing about the loss of Herbert Kohler. The Tour mentioned in its statement the significance of Kohler in the development of Men’s and as well as Women’s golf in the State of Wisconsin. The 92-year-old Tour also remembered the regular presence of the Billionaire at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Herb Kohler Jr. was a true visionary of the sport. A fan who turned his love and passion into a notion. The Kohler plumbing products may be remembered by most people worldwide, but the golf world will always remember Kohler for his contribution to the game of golf. He will truly be missed!
