The results of the 2024 Aramco Saudi Ladies International Tournament presented by PIF are finally out. After a sustained performance throughout the event, Patty Tavatanakit emerged victorious after days of grinding at the Ladies European Tour event held at the Riyadh Golf Club.

Winning is sweet. Tasting the sweetness of her victory seems to have gotten Tavatanakit “very emotional.” So much so, that the star was even seen shedding tears of joy, and thanking everyone who had helped her reach the place she is presently at. Surely, endurance is key in the game of golf, and Tavatanakit has proven that.

This win at the LET’s famous event has fetched Tavatanakit a hefty check worth $750,000. The 24-year-old’s advice? “One day at a time. Keep working hard.” It turns out that this approach, rooted in perseverance and patience, has worked out perfectly for this UCLA graduate.

It is a heartwarming experience to win, especially at an event where the purse for men and women is alike (yes, both men’s Saudi International and the ladies’ purse are set at $5 million). But why did this win make the famous professional golfer so emotional? What was so special about it?

Why was the Saudi win so special for Patty Tavatanakit?

The fruits of patience are sweet too! This is exactly why this win after a winless drought of three years turned out to be so special for the Thai golf star. Her last individual win came at the 2021 Chevron Championship, a year after the star turned pro. However, these three years were not full of disappointment for Tavatanakit, considering she was part of Team Thailand at the 2023 Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown. However, this is her first solo triumph in a long time.

Following the Thai golf sensation’s score of 18 under par, next on the leaderboard was Esther Henseleit with a score of 11 under par. She was followed by Minami Katsu and world no. 8 Charley Hull, who tied for third place with a score of 9-under par. Winning in a field of talented and highly-ranked players is undoubtedly an honor that the young star has added to her wall of achievements.

Of course, after tasting a victory this impactful, Patty Tavatanakit’s reaction was almost expected. What are your thoughts about Patty Tavatanakit’s recent victory at the PIF-sponsored event? Share your views in the comments section below.
