After playfully complaining about often finishing second in tournaments, Charley Hull currently stands in the second position yet again in the ongoing championship at the end of the third round.
Charley Hull has been performing exceptionally well at the Kroger Queen City Championship. Her scores have been consistent through the rounds and Hull sounded happy in the post-round press conference. The Englishwoman got candid about her third-round performance and an aspect of golf that motivates her the most.

Charley Hull’s third round was quite interesting. Right at the beginning of the round, the 27-year-old scored a huge 7 on a par-4 hole. The first hole had been kinder to her in the first two rounds, where she scored par both times. Speaking of her triple bogey, Hull said, “Didn’t really think about it. Just thought I can get it back easy.”
The next question brought back her memory from the US Women’s Open earlier this year, where Hull had spoken about how she loves a good chase. She had stated, “I quite enjoy chasing someone because you got to make birdies and you got to make a move up that leaderboard.”
Hull reiterated her statement at Saturday’s press conference as well, “Yeah, because kind of then you’re fighting back, and I quite enjoy that.” Explaining why she loves chasing so much, the two-time LPGA Tour winner said, “Like it actually gets me really excited. It’s like a challenge.”
With the Solheim Cup right around the corner, Charley Hull will have no shortage of chases and challenges. While we can interpret the chase as chasing her competition, we can also interpret it as chasing herself to redeem a bad start.
She was also asked if the triple bogey was in a weird way an ideal start. Hull agreed. A quick look at her third round and the earlier rounds would put things in better perspective.

Charley Hull finished with a 5-under in the first round of the tournament, scoring a 67 on a par-72 course. Her two bogeys negated the eagle she scored, and her five birdies put her at 5-under.
In the second round, her score dropped by one. However, this was a neat round with no bogeys. There were no eagles either. Just four plain birdies. The third round started with a banger, though.
After sustaining a triple bogey on a par-4 hole, with 7 strikes, Hull came back with a birdie on the second hole. Notably, she had scored a birdie on the second hole in the first two rounds as well. She came back real well after the horrendous start as she turned in another 68.
