Kevin Velo, the rookie on the PGA Tour, hasn’t had the best start to his schedule, as he missed cuts in 8 events out of 10 participations. But before the struggle on the PGA Tour, the golfer had recorded two victories and was in the top 30 at the Korn Ferry Tour, which helped him earn the card. Even the same form now seems to have returned for him, as Velo and his partner, Isaiah Salinda, have gotten all the attention with their performance. The duo set a record low at the event with -14.58. Contributing to the score, San Jose State University alumni carded four birdies. Apart from his skill set, his selection of clubs has been a vital support on the course.
Having a partnership with Ping, the golfer has added a variety of clubs based on his preference and game style. For his 295.5 yards driving distance with 62.5% driving accuracy, he uses a Ping G440 LST Driver with 10.5 degrees loft and Project X RDX Green 60g 6.5. The driver offers a great blend of forgiveness and distance coverage at $599, making it a great buy for golfers.
Along with the driver, he carries three fairway woods, two 3-woods (G440 LST and G430 Max), and one 5-wood (G430 Max). The combination of LST and Max fairway wood helps in maintaining a balance of high loft and longer distance coverage. The LST woods are easier to control as they offer great forgiveness, while the Max woods are ideal for high hitting, along with long shots. Coming in at approximately $350, it is a great fit in the bag.

Further in the bag, he carries Ping Blueprint S (4, 5, 6) and T iron (7,8,9) with X100 Tour Issue. The irons for the approach shot offer a premium feel, accurate ball striking, and consistency. Though it isn’t very forgiving, for some players it could be ideal. Priced at $212 per club, this can be an ideal option for reaching the close to the greens. After the approach shots, the final clubs to reach the green are the wedges and putter from Ping.
Kevin Velo’s preference for the greens
For reaching the greens near the hole, the golfer uses Ping S159 (Raw) Wedges (46 degrees S, 50 degrees S, 56 degrees S, and 60 degrees S). The combination is great for a golfer who aims to have a great combination of control, spin, and consistency. For precision shots, the $180 club is an ideal option to add to the bag. Finally, to make all the effort count, the golfer carries the Ping PLD Custom Putter.

The milled face type with the blade’s head makes it ideal for conversion. Velo has customized this putter according to his game style, and it indeed is offering him great benefits. Coming in at approximately $620, it is a great option to convert on the greens. With the entire set customized according to the game preference and now adapting to the pressure of the PGA Tour, the golfer has shown a great comeback with his performance.
