The 2023 Kaulig Companies Championship has got underway at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The flagship event, formerly known as the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship, is being organized by Kaulig Companies this year in partnership with PGA Tour Champions. Kaulig Companies, a leading single-member family office, will be the title sponsor of the event for four years, starting in 2023.

The 72-hole tournament will have no 36-hole cut as the four-round event takes place at the club’s South Course. Let us take a closer look at the tournament.

The event kicked off on July 13 as the championship saw 78 players take on the Ohio course. The likes of Harrison Frazar, Steve Stricker, YE Yang, and Miguel Angel Jimenez are headlining the tournament. Jerry Kelly was victorious last year. Can he win the event for the second successive season? That’s the big question.

In order to qualify for the 2023 Charles Schwab Cup playoffs, every dollar gained in this event would equate to one regular season point. The first leg of the Cup would be open to the top 72 players in the Kaulig Companies Championship. As per the final standings, the top five players will be rewarded a portion of the $2.1 million bonus pool as annuities.
