Nick Adams gained notoriety after Donald Trump appreciated Adams’ work. Also heavily criticized by the author is WNBA player Britney Griner, who was detained by Russian forces earlier this year.

McIlroy has previously criticized Trump and even decided that he would never play golf with the former President again. Adams took a shot at the golfer by reminding him of his quote during his disappointing phase.

Nick Adams claims Rory McIlroy got a taste of karma

Rory McIlroy had an exceptional first three rounds at St. Andrews. Before heading to the final round, the 33-year-old led the Major with four shots. He was widely considered the favorite to win his second Open Championship.

However, in the final round, McIlroy missed seven putts for birdies that were less than 20 feet long. Moreover, Cameron Smith recorded the best score in the history of the final round of The Open with a -8.

Despite his efforts, the Northern Irish star failed to win the Major and was immediately bashed by Nick Adams. The Australian-born American author took to Twitter to criticize the golfer. He poked fun at how McIlroy choked away his lead.

Adams tweeted, “Rory McIlory said he wouldn’t play golf with President Trump again and today he choked away The 150th Open at St. Andrews.” The author then got a little personal with the golfer by ending the tweet by saying, “Karma comes at people fast sometimes.”

This isn’t the first time that Adams has tweeted regarding McIlroy. After the 4-time Major champion’s exit from the US Open in June, Adams believed McIlroy has forgotten how to win. He tweeted, “When competing against the best players in the world, Rory McIlroy doesn’t know how to win anymore.

Nick Adams was brutal, and whether his attack came from a personal place of dislike for the golfer or not, is unclear. But what is the reason behind the continuous criticism from the author?

McIlroy agrees to never play golf with Donald Trump

The continuous scrutiny of McIlroy by Adams started when the golfer publicly declared to never play golf with the former POTUS, Trump, who is an avid golf lover himself, has previously played with Rory McIlroy several times.

However, once McIlroy was criticized by the people for playing with the Former President, he vowed to never play golf with him again. The Northern Irish star’s main concern behind his decision was because of Trump’s Covid policies.

When asked if he will ever play with Trump, Rory McIlroy replied, “I don’t know if he’d want to play with me again after what I just said. I know it’s very self-serving of me to say no, and if I don’t, then it means then I’m not putting myself in position to be under scrutiny and that I’m avoiding that.”
