In a world where kindness and compassion can often seem in short supply, there are still moments that remind us of the transformative power of human connection. It’s a reminder that can come from the most unexpected places and one that can leave a lasting impact on our lives. For one individual, a recent experience at a golf club in Kansas would prove to be just such a moment.
The story begins with a heartfelt tweet from a member of Prairie Dunes Country Club, who was left overwhelmed by an act of kindness from the club’s grounds crew. “I am a member at Prairie Dunes in a wheelchair with ALS,” the tweet reads. “Corey Griess and his grounds crew just came over and shoveled snow off my driveway. They did not ask for money but I forced them to take some. Prairie Dunes is SUCH a special Club!! In so many ways…” It’s proof that the club’s commitment to the community and its members is their top priority and one that speaks volumes about the kind of people who call Prairie Dunes home.
For those who may not be familiar, Prairie Dunes Country Club is a golfing gem nestled in the heart of Kansas. With its rolling hills, sand dunes, and prairie grasses, the club’s 18-hole course is a masterpiece of design that has been delighting golfers for generations. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell in the 1930s, the course has been meticulously maintained and updated over the years to ensure that it remains a challenging and enjoyable test of golf. But as the tweet from the grateful member so eloquently illustrates, Prairie Dunes is more than just a great golf course – it’s a community that truly cares about its members.

Netizens are expressing their happiness on the good deed by the people at Prairie Dunes
Golf fans are not that easy to impress but throw in good work and good intentions and these people are sold. One fan said, “Still good people out there!”, while the other said, “This is fantastic to hear! ❤️🤘❄️☃️⛳️”. This reminds us of the time when the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst stepped up to support its employees who were impacted by the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. The club’s Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program initially started to aid elderly members and residents after a severe storm and was adapted to assist the staff, including delivering food, running errands, and driving them to appointments.

Thanks to the efforts of coordinators Dale Moegling and Barbara Reining, along with a dozen other members, the club was able to keep all its staff members employed and supported during a challenging time, demonstrating the true meaning of community and kindness. Another fan chimed in and said, “This story made my day”, while the other said, “A special group of guys! Keep it up!” Well, it isn’t a surprise to anyone how the world of golf always keeps finding new ways to help those in need.
Take the new Ryder Cup pay rule, for example. The PGA of America recently announced that the 12 US golfers competing at Bethpage Black in September, as well as captain Keegan Bradley, will receive $500,000, with $300,000 of that amount already earmarked for charity. And now, Xander Schauffele has taken it a step further, stating that all of the money awarded to American players will be donated to charity. Another fan said something that perfectly sums up everyone’s emotion towards this, “Love this!!” Well, what do you think? Let us know in the comment section below!
