The 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson will have a special guest on the sidelines. That guest is none other than Kai Trump, the granddaughter of the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Kai Trump is committed to the University of Miami for the upcoming season after her exploits on the golf course with the Benjamin School made her renowned. It is the same school that Tiger Woods’s son Charlie Woods studies in as well.
In an Instagram post, she stated, “Hey guys, HUGE NEWS!” I am going to the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on May 1st in Texas, and I couldn’t be more excited!” She went on to further add that she “will be vlogging my whole experience there. We’re going to be sharing golf, Korean culture, amazing Korean food, and more. It’s going to be so much fun.” Kai has her own YouTube channel and often shares fun experiences on it, which fans seem to love readily.
The CJ Cup Byron Nelson has a lot of close connections with South Korean culture. The sponsor for the event, the CJ Group, is a South Korean conglomerate. There is also usually a good presence of South Korean players in the event. These two factors combine to draw in more fans from South Korea to view the event. The icing on the cake? Three of the last five winners of the tournament at the TPC Craig Ranch are South Korean. The likes of K.H. Lee, Si Woo Kim, and Sungjae Im will be looking to get it done again.

Kai Trump’s inclusion at the Texas event on the PGA Tour, as she will be up close to some of the best golf in the world. Especially coming off a difficult time at the recently concluded Sage Valley Invitational, that is exactly what the young golfer needs as she heads to experience collegiate golf.

Trump had a disappointing outing at the Junior Invitational, which is also dubbed the “Masters of Junior Golf.” The youngster, who boasts a handicap of +0.5, finished last on the leaderboard with a score of 52 over par after carding a disappointing 89 in the last round. Her scorecard read 89-79-83-89. Not the experience she would have wished for in the tournament.

However, her base is very strong, and being surrounded by people in a competitive environment in Miami could be the exact boost she needs. Even her grandfather thinks highly of Kai Trump’s ability on the golf course.
Donald Trump heaps praise on Kai Trump
“I just want to say that I play a lot of golf with Kai, and she’s a fantastic golfer. She’s a scratch player, which is amazing. I think someday in the not-too-distant future, she’s going to be much better than Scratchy. But she’s doing really well, and she wins a lot of matches.” The President explained it in one of his recent YouTube videos.

Trump was part of the All-County Team when she played for the Benjamin School and will be looking to learn and progress during her time at the University of Miami. Donald Trump is looking forward to that day. “And someday she’ll be able to beat her grandfather. I’m not sure when that will be, my one-on-one match.” He added.
