How good is Donald Trump at Golf? It’s a question that has confounded golfers and golf fans for some years now. If you ask Kai Trump, the President-elect’s teenage granddaughter, she might say her grandfather hits slightly longer than Bryson DeChambeau even.

Kai Trump called the President-elect from Bedminster. The teenager wanted to talk about her front-nine score to her grandfather. She shot 4-under in the front nine at the 7721-yard layout. Turned out, that’s also Donald Trump’s lowest score at the venue. The President-elect went on to ask the teenager what she thought of his clubhead speed compared to Bryson DeChambeau’s.

“I don’t know; I think yours is a little faster, honestly. I think… I think you hit it way farther than him,” said the teenager grinning ear-to-ear. Trump replied, “That’s right, honey,” as you can see in the clip below. Actually this isn’t the first time Trump bragged about his clubhead speed.

Previously, he mocked Mark Cuban after the latter endorsed Kamala Harris calling him a weak and pathetic ‘bully’ who has low clubhead speed. It’s not clear what Trump’s clubhead speed is, however. Bryson DeChambeau averaged around 133.1 MPH in 2021. He is one of the longest drivers among pro golfers. The Crushers GC captain bombed a 360-yard drive at Valhalla during this year’s PGA Championship, the longest of that week.

Although the LIV Golf Pro has reduced the ‘weightage’ on driving distance and focused on other areas, powerful drives are still his forte. It is not known how far Donald Trump hits his golf ball nowadays. Back in 2016, Lexi Thompson, a member of the Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, told Yahoo Sports that Trump reaches about 250 yards off the tee. Bryson DeChambeau has yet to respond to Kai’s ‘claim’ about her grandfather’s clubhead speed. But given the bond between the two, fans can expect the duo teeing off again. This time against each other, perhaps.

Exploring Bryson DeChambeau’s friendship with Donald Trump

Despite their massive age difference, Bryson DeChambeau has developed an unlikely friendship with the President-elect. And it dates back to some years. Back in 2020, after his first US Open victory, DeChambeau went straight to Trump National GC Westchester, in Briarcliff Manor for his post-victory celebration. Eric Trump was also present as he was during this year’s US Open celebration as well. Back in June, Eric Trump once again hosted the reigning US Open champion as he chugged wine from the sterling silver trophy.

Donald Trump wasn’t present in person. But he later wrote on social media, “Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on his incredible WIN of the United States Open! He showed a toughness and inner strength, matched perfectly with his GREAT Golfing Talent, that can never be denied!” Trump also appeared on Bryson DeChambeau’s YouTube channel. The clip propelled his channel to cross the 1M subscribers mark.

It should be noted that Donald Trump also called Bryson DeChambeau on stage on election night. “We have up here today the U.S. Open champion. He’s a fantastic golfer. Slightly longer than me. Hits the ball a little bit longer than me. Just a little bit,” the former POTUS said from the Palm Beach Convocation Center. The US Open winner has also been generous in praising Kai Trump lauding her hard work and neat swing before.
