Imagine growing up with a passion for golf and a famous last name that comes with high expectations. For Kai Trump, granddaughter of former USA President Donald Trump, golf is more than just a game – it’s a way to forge her path and make a name for herself. But what’s even more remarkable is that Kai may be out swinging Charlie Woods, son of legendary Tiger Woods. But how?
Turns out, she may have a better handicap than Charlie! Are the rumors true? Is Kai Trump the next big thing in ladies’ golf? Well, it definitely looks like she’s working toward achieving just that. As per the USGA GHIN (Golf Handicap & Information Network), Kai Trump boasts a +0.5 handicap, which is extraordinary for a 17-year-old. In comparison, Charlie Woods, 15, has a handicap of +3, according to the PGA Tour. While both achievements are remarkable, Woods Jr’s handicap is notably better. However, despite Charlie’s better handicap, Kai’s achievements put everything else to shame.
When it comes to wins, Trump has an impressive list of achievements, including the Women’s Club Championship in 2022 and the Ladies Club Championship at Palm Beach in March 2024. “Very proud of my game and where it’s heading, but there is always room for improvement,” she wrote in a social media post. However, Woods Jr has yet to secure an amateur title, but he has shown great promise in Junior golf. He has primarily played in two tours: the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and the South Florida PGA Junior Tour (SFPJ Tour).

Charlie Woods‘ golf journey has been a mixed bag. He tasted his first victory in a 9-hole event in August 2020, under the South Florida PGA Junior Tour, and went on to win a gold medal at the West Coast High School event. Additionally, he has won four times on the HJG Tour. However, his career has been rocky at best, with a series of setbacks this year, including his failure to make his PGA Tour debut and qualifying for the US Open. Despite this, he is set to debut in his first USGA championship event on July 22.

In terms of sponsorship, Kai Trump had secured a deal with Greyson Women’s and is seemingly also backed by Callaway Next, a brand that proclaims to shape “the next generation of Callaway Tour Pros.” As for Charlie Woods, on December 19, Greyson Clothier reposted an Instagram story from Larry Fitzgerald, indicating that the 15-year-old would be signing with the clothing company. This was seemingly confirmed by the report, with Fitzgerald welcoming Charlie on Instagram: “Welcome to the family, Charlie Woods.” However, the confirmation is still pending, but he was seen wearing Greyson at Masters.
The post on X indicating Kai Trump’s handicap may have referred to her being part of the “athletically gifted Trump family,” but to achieve all these accolades with no proper professional golf history in the family, Kai sure is crushing Woods Jr, who has a lot of history with the sport. Speaking of professional golf, Kai has had her fair share of outings with many players. In fact, at the LIV Golf tournament at Trump’s Doral course, the 17-year-old played the Pro-Am event alongside Eric Trump, Brooks Koepka, and Sergio Garcia.
The team finished with a score of 9-under, the tied lowest of the day. And Kai Trump capped off the round with five birdies! Besides this, she also spent a day golfing with Bryson DeChambeau, world long-drive champion Kyle Berkshire, and her grandpa last December. Sharing a video of one of her drives from the day on Instagram, Kai wrote, “Had the best time the other day playing with [DeChambeau], [Berkshire], and grandpa.⛳️” The 2024 US Open champion commented, “Pure 🤌”
