Two of America’s most powerful personalities sharing the same course—what could possibly unfold? You might think it’s a recipe for a clash, with both known for commanding power and attention. But that’s not quite the story when it comes to Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Fresh off his presidential win, Trump now holds influence that could rival, or even surpass, that of the world’s richest man. And it seems the two are wasting no time in strengthening their ties.
How, you ask? Well, they were recently spotted together on the greens at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, joined by Trump’s granddaughter Kai. She even shared some wholesome photos of the outing on social media, showing her grandfather and Musk all smiles and enjoying each other’s company. These casual hangouts seem to be happening a lot more often since Trump’s return to the White House. Kai even hinted at Musk’s new closeness to the family, posting a group shot on X (formerly Twitter) and calling it “the whole squad.”

As per some reports, Musk has been visiting Trump daily since the latter won the elections. Musk usually is seen dining with the POTUS on the patio some evenings and hanging out with his family on Sundays at the golf course. The Tesla CEO has been in the room when multiple world leaders have phoned Trump, and he has even weighed in on staffing decisions, with the SpaceX and Tesla CEO even making clear his preference for certain roles as per CNN.
Donald Trump is just as enamored by Musk. “We have to protect our geniuses, we don’t have that many of them,” said Trump during his victory speech. The trio’s interaction got fans excited as they filled the comment section of the post.
Fans react to Trump and Musk’s new bonding
The scene was all set: Kai swinging her club confidently, Trump watching from his cart near the tee box, and, of course, a few snapshots capturing Trump and Musk grinning together. But fans couldn’t help but notice something a bit unusual. One fan said, “I’m guessing Elon doesn’t play golf, lol,” while another couldn’t resist saying, “I gotta see Musk’s swing.” For those still wondering, golf isn’t really Musk’s game. Though he may have picked up a club here and there, he’s never been known for playing the sport seriously. So it’s safe to say he was there to enjoy time with Trump and family. And who knows? Maybe with Kai around, he might even pick up a swing or two.

And speaking of tips, Kai’s swing got a lot of attention, too. “Kai looks like she’s LPGA-ready. Nice swing!” a fan remarked. And it’s not just talk—Kai plays for the Benjamin School’s girls’ golf team. In a recent match, she shot a 79 to finish tied for 22nd at the Region 4-1A championship in Miami. At such a young age, Kai has the praise of players like Bryson DeChambeau. With her dedication, it’s not hard to imagine her taking her skills to the LPGA Tour one day.
Fans also picked up on the family vibes, with one saying, “Both are superpowers who love family.” Trump’s close-knit family ties often show up on social media. Musk, on the other hand, has a bit of a different approach. As per Deccan Herald, Musk wants a big family where his younger children could be a part of one another’s lives. Musk wishes to schedule time among them.
Of course, this newfound closeness wasn’t always the case. Over the years, Trump and Musk’s relationship has had its share of rocky moments. Back in 2016, Musk voiced doubts about Trump’s stance on science and climate issues, later stepping down from Trump’s advisory councils over policies like the travel ban and the Paris Agreement exit. Their tension flared up again in 2022, with Musk suggesting Trump should “sail into the sunset.” Trump fired back, calling Musk a “bulls*** artist” and accusing him of relying heavily on government subsidies. The jabs continued, with Trump downplaying Musk’s electric cars while Musk critiqued Trump’s divisive rhetoric.

But things have changed recently. Musk’s ownership of X has seen him lean toward more conservative stances and even encouraged users to support Trump-aligned candidates in the 2024 election cycle. He even backed Trump in the presidential race, which, of course, has turned out well for him—giving the billionaire some serious influence that could help his companies get favorable government support. As one fan put it, “I love that they are now best friends.”
