The sobering truth about sports is that for every winner, there is at least one loser. While some who’ve lost cannot handle their defeat, others are graceful about it. Justin Thomas is certainly the latter. Despite being a highly competitive golfer, Thomas acts with class in the face of defeat. Even if the loss comes to an 11-year-old in an unofficial challenge.

Justin Thomas turned pro in 2013 and has won 15 times on the PGA Tour since then. His wins include two majors, one of which came earlier this year at the PGA Championship. The pro golfer also competed in the PNC Championship, where he tied for second, losing out to Vijay Singh and his son, Qass Singh.

Justin Thomas suffers defeat at the hands of Annika Sorenstam’s son

During the pro-am meet at the PNC Championship, Thomas faced off against Will McGee, LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam’s son. The PGA Star had gone over to Team Sorenstam, and he and Will played against each other in the left-handed straightest stroke challenge.

The result of the challenge wasn’t close, but to be fair to Thomas, Will is left-handed, while Thomas isn’t. Soon after the shot was hit, JT stated, “Alright I lose,” knowing very well that he couldn’t beat Will. Sure enough, moments later Thomas watched his shot go terribly off course. When he later rewatched the video and added his commentary to it, all JT could only manage was an “Ohhh” and then laugh in wonder at how incredible Will’s shot was.

Despite his loss, the pro acted with grace. As he watched Will’s shot sore across the course, he wrote, Will crushed me in both the long drive AND straightest drive!” He also mentioned how he was having a great time at the event and wrote, “Having a blast already this week.”

The LPGA superstar recently took to Twitter, where she posted a video of Thomas reacting to his challenge with Will. She wrote that she initially meant to post a photo of Will and JT, thanking Greyson Clothier, who sponsors Thomas and had sent clothes for Will for the championship. But Annika instead chose to post this heartwarming video of Thomas admitting Will’s superiority without putting it in words.

She thanked Thomas, saying, “I’ll post this video of their “lefty” driver challenge after her [he, Thomas] came over to hang with Will. So nice!” Thomas himself was more than grateful to have spent time and had fun with Annika and Will.
