LIV Golf and the PGA Tour’s feuds are always out there! But these feuds are more leagues-related than they are entity-related. Does it mean that players share a good bond and are friendly with each other? All such answers can be understood from the two-time PGA Championship winner, Justin Thomas‘s, recent statement.
In the No Laying Up: Golf Podcast interview, Justin Thomas did not hesitate to speak the truth. A truth that often goes amiss for public modesty. In the interview, he was asked about his camaraderie with LIV golfers at the majors. The host has also asked if he ever got in touch with them. In reply, Justin Thomas could say no, but with much more intensity, he went into the specifics.
JT confessed that he has not been on good terms with many LIV golfers. Thomas revealed, “It sounds bad to say,” but the golfer was not friendly with many who have turned to LIV Golf. He reflected, “We didn’t hate each other. We didn’t bash each other. But, like, I wasn’t friends or friendly with them, so I didn’t hang out with that person.”

Clarifying how his friendship level has been with certain present LIV golfers from before they joined the Norman-led league, Thomas further mentioned whether things took a worse turn after the LIV golf tag. Justin Thomas confessed that things did not really change a lot, it just always has been this way. He stated, “It wasn’t like a thing of like, ‘Oh, now I’m really going to ignore the person.'”
The two-time major winner also stated that he does not plan to randomly go up to a golfer and wishes to catch up with them. He reflected, “It just was more the guys that wouldn’t stop talking when they just really didn’t need to kind of thing or when they didn’t need to be talking.” He further added, “And just saying things that were just so egregious and didn’t really make sense.” He also declared, “I got nothing for that. So I wasn’t exactly going out of my way for some.”
Earlier, the golfer had made a passing remark on the same topic, let us take a look at whether his statement was a direct indication to someone in particular.

PGA vs. LIV: Are Justin Thomas's feelings justified or just sour grapes?
Have an interesting take?
Before the 2024 PLAYERS Championship, Thomas answered Talor Gooch’s comment about Rory McIlroy. Gooch has suggested if McIlroy would win the Masters this year, it would be an addition of an asterisk. Why? Because of a lack of LIV golfers’ presence. Although McIlroy has nothing to add to such a comment, however, Thomas did not stay silent.
Justin Thomas made it clear that he firmly believed that the field has been exactly the best as it has been so in the previous years as well. Then he leaped to make a bold comment. he said, “Yeah, you could always make an argument that there are other tournaments that are or are not.” Justin Thomas further reflected that the PGA Championship has continued to stay consistent with a deep field with the top 100 players in the field. He further clarified that his comment had nothing to do with his selfish reasons. He announced, “It’s just the truth.”

Then the two-time Major Champion used Gooch’s choice of words and gave a sound reply, “I know what you mean in terms of how World Ranking and guys that are or aren’t on the TOUR anymore, but that’s just kind of the reality that — and what they have put themselves in, and, yeah, I mean, I’m not going to have an asterisk next to my name for winning this because the field wasn’t too good, right.”
