The 150th Open Championship was the tournament Tiger Woods had been looking forward to. He took nearly two months of rest to prepare to play on his favorite golf course in the world. However, he couldn’t do well as expected in round 1 as he finished with a T146 position in the 156 player-field!
“In a round, sometimes it just goes that way,” Woods explained whether luck means anything in playing golf in the press meet after round 1. “It just goes one way, and it never seems to come back.”

Tiger Woods blames his putting for the terrible outcome from round 1
According to the 2-time champion at St. Andrews, he “compounded problems” with his ball speed on the greens. “I hit the ball in the correct spots a couple of times, leave myself some good lag putts, the correct angles,” Woods explained in the press meet. “And I messed those up.”

Although the golfers found difficulties on Day 1, many could turn it into good outcomes. The 25-year-old American golfer Cameron Young leads the field with 8-under par. Players like former tournament champion Rory McIlroy, Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, and the LIV Golf rebel Lee Westwood made it to the top 10 after round 1.
