Justin Thomas falls in the ranking

One of the current hot prospects in the golf world is surely Justin Thomas. Thomas has already enjoyed a great career, having won two major golf championships, winning the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2022. Moreover, in May 2018, Thomas also rose up to the number one World Golf Ranking, being the 21st player to achieve this feat.

Over the last 6 years, Thomas has been on a great playing level. Thomas’ level of consistency is evident from the fact that he has been in the top 10 World Ranking for nearly 6 years continuously. However, the situation has changed now as the 29-year-old falls out of the top 10 for the first time in six years.

Sam Burns makes his way into the top 10 and takes the place of Thomas. Thomas drops to 11th in the Official World Golf Ranking. This is the first time Thomas has been outside the top 10 since August 2017. This stat alone is one of the greatest and hardest to achieve.

After having skipped the WGC-Match Play due to personal venue issues, Thomas certainly got behind on the points table. Thomas’ decision, as reported by Golf Digest’ has surely made an impact on his ranking. Having done well in the other tournaments during the current season, Thomas clearly lost his 10th rank due to his absence from the WGC-Match Play at the Austin Country Club.
Now having fallen out of the top 10, Thomas surely might have already set his eyes on the upcoming Masters. It just might feel like the perfect time for a Masters win. It also remains to be seen how the drop in Thomas’ ranking has an impact on him.
