According to the National Hole-In-One Association, the chances of two non-professional golfers within a group of four hitting a hole-in-one on the same hole are 26 million to one. “I think that the odds should be higher than that, actually, because that’s something that rarely happens. I mean, I’m sure it’s happened before, but it can’t be very often,” said Stangl.

Curlee said, “To get a hole-in-one is amazing, but to be in a group and have two holes-in-one and you’re part of that, it’s just indescribable. It’s crazy.”

A hole-in-one shot, also known as ace shot is an extremely rare sight in golf. The odds of hitting an ace are extremely low. There is a tradition associated with a hole-in-one shot that a golfer who hits the shot has to buy fellow players drinks.

It is estimated that the chances of achieving a hole-in-one are approximately 1 in 12,500, but for professional golfers on tour, the probability drops significantly to 1 in 2,500.

According to Experience St Andrews, the earliest ace shot was documented in 1868 at Open Championship at Prestwick. It was Old Tom Morris who was playing his 9th Open. Despite finishing in second place, Old Tom was awarded a prize of £4, while his son emerged as the champion and received a substantial sum of £6.
