It was a special day for Jordan Spieth and his young fans at the 50th PLAYERS Championship. Spieth shared a memorable time with Cayden, who had visited the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course to live his dream of meeting with the 13-time PGA Tour winner. Cayden has been a Tom Coughlin Fund recipient and has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The PGA Tour posted a video on X (formerly known as Twitter) of Cayden and Spieth, with an additional appearance by Peter Malnati. The three-time major champion met with Cayden and invited him inside the ropes at TPC Sawgrass. While walking with Spieth for the next few holes, the two shared a similar love for baseball and golf. As Spieth inquired about Cayden’s treatment, Malnati chimed in for a small putting contest between the three.
Cayden and Malnati were playing against Spieth. Though neither could putt the hole, Cayden had a nice attempt, which Spieth called a pure shot. In the end, Spieth shot the closest for the win. But walking together with Spieth, Cayden’s father, Tom expressed that it was a great distraction for his son, away from all the treatment. On the other hand, the 30-year-old thought that he could learn a lot from Cayden’s lively attitude.
