Is Jordan Spieth one of the top players on the PGA Tour? The 3-time major winner was once regarded as one of the most promising talents in the world of golf. His impeccable strokeplay was often admired and that helped him achieve a lot of success early on in his career. Spieth’s comparison to the GOAT Jack Nicklaus was justified when he became only the 2nd player in golf to win 3 majors before the age of 24. But that was 7 years ago!

The Jordan Spieth of today is nowhere near the promise he showed in 2017. The man who had earned 11 titles from the age of 19 to 24 has only added 2 more to his trophy cabinet now that he is 31. In fact, his last win came nearly 3 years ago when he captured the 2022 RBC Heritage title. There are a lot of reasons behind the change in the trajectory of his career. Most of them are believed to be related to his injury troubles. But still, Jordan Spieth remains one of the biggest names on the PGA Tour.

Now we would say that it’s just an opinion of the insiders, but that’s not the case. The PGA Tour officials themselves believe that anything that is synonymous with Jordan Spieth means money. That is why they are still paying him in abundance through the Player Impact Program or PIP.

Jordan Spieth is still a huge brand in the golf world

As confirmed by the hosts of Fore Play Podcast Plus, the man from Dallas is due to get a whopping $4.5 million for his appearances in the PGA Tour events in 2024. This is after Spieth made 14 cuts throughout the season with 3 top-10 finishes. His best came at last year’s The Sentry where he finished 3rd. He gathered $2,732,591 from the Tour appearances last year, which is nearly 2 million less than what he will make off the PIP.

The topic arose after the group was discussing Tiger Woods being ranked 1st on the PIP list. After 3 other formidable players, the 5th man on the PIP was Jordan Spieth. That’s when one of the hosts mentioned how “Jordan Spieth is sneak. One of the richest golfers of all time who has had one of the strangest careers,” as he reflected on the golfer’s career. He further mentioned, “This year, what did Jordan Spieth do? Maybe I’m just not remembering what happened but he didn’t do a ton, but he is so popular,” speaking about the fame the Texan has even without a stellar season.

Fame might have helped Spieth rank 5th on the PIP list, but who finished between him and Tiger Woods? Let’s take a closer look at the list to find out.

Who ranks above Jordan Spieth on the PIP list?

While Jordan Spieth’s appearance on the list may surprise everyone, fans might be more accepting of the other players who have convinced the PGA Tour. The 2nd most impactful player on the PIP list behind Tiger Woods would be an easy guess. Yes, it’s Mr. Inevitable himself, Scottie Scheffler. After the amazing season he has had, there is no doubt the world no. 1 has been ranked as the 2nd most influential player by the PGA Tour. Compared to Tiger Woods’s $10 million in winnings, Scheffler banked $8 million for his efforts.

3rd on the list is Rory McIlroy, the poster boy of golf. The Irishman dominated the DP World Tour and also managed to grab a couple of wins in the PGA Tour to secure third place for himself. The winner of the DP World Tour Championship 2024 also managed to equal the record of Seve Ballesteros for 6 Race to Dubai title victories. Another easy guess coming in at 4th is Xander Schauffele. The man from San Diego managed to win both, his 1st and his 2nd major title in 2024. Out to prove a point to his doubters, the world no. 2 didn’t succumb to the pressure this time around. Both McIlroy and Schauffele were awarded the same amount as Spieth; i.e. $4.5 million each.
