Jordan Spieth calls out lack of college life on Justin Thomas’ tweet
The thread began when 29-year-old Thomas showcased a clip featuring the ninth hole of the Albany Golf Club, which is the host of the Hero World Challenge. The hole remains unforgettable for infamous reasons, which the 2022 PGA Championship winner was quick to point out.

While the jibe was directly aimed at Spieth, the Dallas-born accepted the mistake, albeit citing a lack of college time. In 2011, Spieth attended the University of Texas but left college midway through his sophomore year to focus on his professional golf career.
Ok @JustinThomas34 … you know some things are hard with only one year of college https://t.co/MQYiIodEDb

Surely, they don’t teach golf tee placements at universities! But Spieth’s accusation left many reacting to his tweet. Some were left stunned by Spieth’s reply, while others chose to comment on the duo’s performance at the Hero World Challenge. Here’s a selection of those tweets:

Why did Spieth get a penalty on the ninth hole last year?
For the unversed, Thomas’ jibe was in reference to the penalties received by Spieth and current LIV golfer, Henrik Stenson, in the last edition. On the last day of the competition, the event organizers moved the tee box on the ninth hole further back, which caught the duo unawares.

After going through with their tee shots, officials signaled the golfers to replay their shots with the correct tee. The duo was also docked off two strokes as a penalty. Evidently, Spieth and Stenson were left in disbelief over the ruling but stayed put to it.
