The three-time major championship winner recorded his 13th PGA Tour title on Easter Sunday. Moreover, it is his first win since the 2021 Valero Texas Open, which also occurred on an Easter Sunday, coincidence? The 2015 FedEx Cup champions fought through tough past few weeks after missing the cut at the 2022 Masters. As a result, he ended his drought of winning at the tough and challenging Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina.
Furthermore, the former World Number One also reflected on his win. He spoke about his success and what he thought while Patrick Cantlay was sitting over the 35-footer on the first playoff hole. He talked about the same on the SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio.
Jordan Spieth jokes about his playoff win against Patrick Cantlay
Spieth spoke to Tom Werme about what he was contemplating while Cantlay was going to make his putt in the playoff. Jordan said, “I honestly was just thinking don’t do this to me, Patrick, you know, 35 feet away. There’s very a few people that if you needed someone to make a 35-footer, he’s on the shortlist. So I just thought, just come on, Patrick. Not this time. So again, he got unlucky there and I know you know, in regulation, he had good look too.”

He added, “So this one you know, there’s a number of them where you think you should have won and someone outplays you this one was one I kind of squeaked through.”
Spieth’s words prove the amount of respect he has for Cantlay as a professional. At the same time, it also ascertains how tough it is to win on the PGA Tour among all the talented professionals.
