Some events prove to be life-changing. For Jordan Spieth, that was the entry into fatherhood. His words prove that as he calls it the “most rewarding work that there is.” In 2024 September, while recovering from his wrist surgery, Spieth made a public appearance at the Brookhaven Country Club just outside where he was born, Dallas. The three-time Major winner and the father of two had a very interesting thought on fatherhood and the impact it had on his life.

“I’m loving being a dad. It’s cool to have this time during the day with my kids too, you know. I can do half of what I can normally do,”  stated Spieth. The University of Texas alum was really cherishing the free time he was getting to spend with his kids while recovering from his surgery. The American golfer then gratefully added, “I like to think of myself as a very active dad. I’ve always been very involved and my family has traveled with me almost every single week on the road.” Clearly, Spieth loves being a dad!

Jordan Spieth met his wife Annie Verret in high school. They married in 2018 and welcomed their first child, a baby boy on November 14, 2021. The couple named him Sammy Spieth. Sammy made his first appearance on the greens at the Masters, only 5 months after his birth. Sammy was also spotted at the 2024 US Open with his mom on Father’s Day. He sat with a cute cap on his stroller beside Annie on the sidelines as his dad approached in the middle of the game to check on him. It was a very wholesome family moment.

On September 12, 2023, Spieth welcomed a baby girl. He and Annie named the little bundle of joy Sophie Spieth. Now nearly two years later, Annie and Jordan Spieth are all ready to welcome their third child into the world. Yup, the couple is expecting their third baby in July. He revealed on “The Smylie Show.” When asked about his off-season, which started in August 2024, he revealed the joyful news.

“We have a third coming in July, so it’s busy. My son turned three in November, so we had his birthday and stuff. He loves monster trucks, we were at the monster truck rally,” Spieth said. “My daughter turned one in September, so we had her birthday right after we got home from Colorado after I had my surgery,” he shared.

Jordan Spieth’s return from surgery might not be going that well

He returned to the competitive scene at Pebble Beach, and delivered an underwhelming performance, finishing at T69. Came the Phoenix Open, and Spieth Saturdays were back. He put on a show finishing T4. After Round 1 at WM Phoenix Open, Spieth revealed a bit of struggle he had to encounter while he was competing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. “I was in a bunker on Spyglass No. 1, my 10th hole, and I had to flick one and it jammed it pretty good. It locked up on me for a little while,” explained a pensive Spieth during the Arizona event.

The Phoenix Open was a great reminder to golfing fans, of the potential Spieth’s game has. He was consistent throughout the tournament, something that had been a trademark of his game, during the dominant stretch of his career from 2015 to 2017 when he won 11 PGA Tour events. But at Genesis a week later, he showed signs of struggles again.

“It’s been a tough week on the wrist. I wasn’t sure if I’d hit one more shot like my shot on 16 yesterday, I wasn’t going to finish the first round. I was OK to go today, but this cold, wet weather and third week in a row, it was not good for it,” Spieth said following a second-round 74 and a missed cut at Torrey Pines.

With a third child on the way, Jordan Spieth will be motivated to keep striving for excellence on the field. It has been nearly three years since he last won a PGA Tour event. Do you think the Texas resident will break his drought this season?
