With much fervor, the Ripper GC lifted the LIV Golf Team Championship trophy in Dallas. With that, the 2024 LIV Golf season comes to an end. The Australian team received the hefty $14 million check for clinching the title that was distributed equally between the four members, each getting $3.5 million. But it boosted the career earnings of one more than the other, Cameron Smith. In the 2024 season, Smith could not win any individual event, but he posted ten top-10 finishes through the 13 events.
At LIV Golf Mayakoba, the Aussie pro finished T8 and earned $457,500. In the next two events in Las Vegas and Jeddah, Smith had mixed results as he finished T15 and T41, his second-worst performance in LIV Golf, respectively, and he bagged a total of $396,875. In the next four starts, the 2-time LIV Golf winner’s results were: 2-WD-T14, and T2, through these starts, Smith amassed two $1.875 million checks and $275,000. The 2022 Open winner carded another and his last runner-up finish in the United Kingdom for another million in his account.
His worst performance was at the LIV Golf Chicago, as he finished 52nd and only earned $50,000. In total, from his individual earnings, Smith took home $8,082,083. However, his team Ripper GC won two times in the regular season and was also the winner in Dallas, boosting another $5 million in his 2024 earnings. Thus, Smith’s 2024 earnings on LIV Golf come out to be $13,082,083.

If his performance at the four majors is included, Smith was T6 at the Masters, T63 at the PGA Championship, and T32 at the US Open, whereas he missed the cut at the Royal Troon. Through these three performances, Smith collected $831,096. Smith stands 7th on the LIV Golf 2024 Money List. Comparatively, where is the LIV Golf 2024 debutant, Jon Rahm, on there?

How much did Jon Rahm earn in the 2024 season?
Undoubtedly, Jon Rahm has a better 2024 LIV golf season than any other golfer. In all 14 events, the Spaniard never finished outside of the top 10. He won two events this year, LIV Golf United Kingdom and Chicago. From the former, Rahm received a $4 million winner’s check, while from the latter, he got the $4 million and $18 million bonus for becoming the LIV Golf Individual Champion. This only comes out to be $26 million.
Taking into account the one runner-up finish in Greenbrier, where he earned $1.875 million, and three third-seed finishes, Rahm earned $32,920,000. Through the remaining six performances, Rahm earned nearly $2 million more, and his individual prize money came out to be $34,754,821. Additionally, his team, Legion XII, won four team events, giving $3 million in earnings. At the Team Championship in Dallas, the Spanish team was third in the leaderboard and amassed $4 million, but since Rahm withdrew from the event, he probably didn’t get any share from it.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Cameron Smith's paycheck justified, or is Jon Rahm the real MVP of LIV Golf?
Have an interesting take?
Notably, the 2-time major winner has surpassed Smith’s 2024 by millions and is the leader in the LIV Golf 2024 money list. But to add the cherry on the cake, Rahm earned another $509,033 from finishing T45 at the Masters and T7 at the Open; unfortunately, he missed the US Open because of a foot infection while he missed the PGA Championship’s cut. Regardless, the Spaniard started his LIV Golf season with a bang and played exceptionally well.
He not only defeated Smith in the career-earning race but also all the other LIV Golf players. Next year, the purses will probably remain the same, but it will be exciting to see who between Smith and Rahm will play better and earn more than the other.
