The golf world is buzzing with excitement, and for good reason. The LIV Golf Dallas has taken off and is near conclusion. The tournament started on September 20 and has the fans hooked ever since. Recently, the golf community was hit with the terrible news that Jon Rahm, who is the Legion XIII captain, will not be able to participate in the event, citing an unknown illness.

The golfer’s replacement was announced simultaneously with the news. John Catlin was given the seat, with the Englishman Tyrrell Hatton being the captain but the fans have been wondering if Rahm would take the chair back during Sunday’s round and lead his team to victory. So, would he? Well no. The golfer is resting and recovering as of now.

“It was apparent that he just wasn’t going to be up to it, which was unfortunate,” said Tyrrell Hatton when asked about the moment he got to know about the Spaniard not playing, and how the was team reacting to it. “I think we all kind of wish him well and want him to get back healthy as soon as possible,”  he continued. During the LIV Golf Dallas press conference, Hatton was also asked if he had talked to Rahm yet, to which he said they exchanged a few messages minutes before the conference.

“We exchanged a few messages probably 10 minutes ago. He sounds like he’s doing a little bit better, which is good to hear. It was good for the team to win today,” said Hatton, recalling a conversation he had with Rahm. Currently, the Legion XIII team is in Tier 1, right behind Kevin Na’s team, The Ironheads.

But how is the team performing without their captain? Pretty good, given their status on the leaderboard. Recently Tyrrell Hatton also expressed his enthusiasm for being the captain of the team that is hoping to clinch its maiden Team Championship title in its first appearance.

Following Jon Rahm’s withdrawal from Dallas, Hatton was appointed as the team’s captain. Hatton, who is most of the time a hotheaded golfer, exuded calm and composure and said that even Rahm would have stepped up, had it been Hatton in his situation. “I mean, I would have done the same thing if it was Rahmbo out there.” He emphasized the importance of teamwork and added his views on it.

As a team, I think you kind of — if the guys are still out there playing, I think it’s important, captain or not, you go out and support the guys”, said Hatton. He wished to support his teammates and ensure Legion XII’s success in Dallas, despite Rahm’s absence. So do you think they can take home the trophy and make their captain proud?
